Snow and more Snow

I would like to of gone hunting this week end BUT 5 to 6 ft. of Snow stopped all my ideas. Here around Buffalo NY. Rich

Think of the winter kill of all the animals stranded. I went to warsaw one early spring at this guys cabin and he walked us about 100 yds behind his hunting camp and there was 17 deer who froze to death from super heavy snow. One was still moving and I walked out to it and a skunk had burrowed in and was eating. Your area may well suffer the biggest winter kill in history in that area.

I put out some hay in the back of my property and the deer tore it up that night, maybe some of you should think about doing the same.

I cant even imagine what these animals do when this weather takes over their feeding range like this. If it were me I would feed them also. It is another travesty of mother natures brutal ways of causing mayhem. I only hope that people just stay out of the storm as much as possible till it lightens up.

The weather service is saying south of buffalo is getting pounded again.

I was born and raised in West Seneca... I lived about 1/3mile from the Buffalo city line, South Buffalo to be exact.. I drove home in the Blizzard of '77 and MOVED in '78! Today, we have 65degrees and sunny. I went shooting this morning! Need I say more! Yes there is a lot more, however, I do feel for those people up there! Especially those now in my age bracket>>>shoveling could get you a quick trip to the morgue! It is a TERRIBLE situation up there! I am not making light of their plight>>BUT once they reach either their breaking point or time for retirement, I would blow that Popsicle Stand!

Yes its nice there now in Texas but they will turn the heat and humidity up soon enough...I just don't see how you do it in all that heat.

Actually, it is quite simple. In Mid-March, I start walking 7miles per day outside in the sun. As the time passes and the heat builds, your body gets used to it. Virtually everything I do is outside... So, I walk in the sun from "warmish" to H-O-T, get a tan, sweat like a stuck pig and VOILA! You are used to the heat and it does not bother you! T-Rust me, it works like a charm!!

You are one of the few who must do that. I was in Tx this last late spring and the word I got from the grocery store manager was when it gets hot the locals will take the hot month off then be back when it cools down.

Hot month? heck over the years it is almost common we will still have snow on the ground and Tx will hay highs 100 or better.

Fast forward a few months I was talking to my Mom I jokingly asked if they had the hot month yet? As it got hotter she said more and more locals stopped coming in. Granted it is stupid hot in those wind towers.

What is funny I was down there several years ago the last of Jan first of Feb. Coming from ND the cool temps Tx were nice but everyone was bitching how cold it was.

With all that said wind power is just a bill of goods.

Well now for weather reports from down under.
I was enjoying a good late snow skiing season last month and waiting for things to warm up, thinking spring will never come.
Half way through a 5 day comp last week, summer came with 39c (105f) temps one day, then winter conditions the next.
Today was 39c (105f) again and in 2 days will be 44c (110c) before it returns to normal spring temperatures.
It is coming out of the part of the year in my area where we wake up asking, do I put on long johns, or beach wear today.

I can't even comprehend that much snow. I've seen pictures of people's doors open and the snow is packed to the top of the frame. No thank you.

And yes, the animal kill off during something like that can be tragic.

Hey Rich,

Want me to send up the husky..? She likes to hunt, play in the snow, and if that doesn't cheer you up, she's one hell of magnet for good lookin snow bunnies..

Steve
