Snow - A December To Remember

I sat in my office and watched the traffic cameras as I was trying to get a steel set and crew over 50. I watched the same dog shit twice in the roundabout at Myers because they didn’t move for hours. That must have sucked for all the commie flat landers trying to get home after Christmas. Lol

The "climatologist" conveniently leave out from models(what global warming/climate change is based on) that the obit of the sun by the earth is in constant fluctuations(distance) and the sun's rate of decay also fluctuates. Since the earths temps are due to the sun, temps will constantly "change". But if China releases a more deadly virus(say 50% death rate) we may see a large carbon emissions drop.

Finally a dog finds a good use for a round about GOOD DOGGIE !!!!!!!

That graph needs statistics. A quick count gave me 31 years 4 m or above from 1880 to 1950. 1950 to 2020 was 16 years 4 m or above
You're focusing on the dark blue "max depth" bars. That could be a lot of snow in a short time, and could be powder. Fluffy powder is deep but contains less water than heavy wet snow. Look at the light blue total snowfall bars.

What's important is any significant trend, particularly in the last 100 years considering the claim that increasing CO2 concentration is decreasing snowfall. A simple eyeball test puts paid to that notion.

This was Zephyr Cove web cam on 28 December. It was like this for many hours. Donner (I-80), SR-89, SR-267, and Mt. Rose (US-50) were closed (RED on the map). Then the governor declared a State Of Emergency (!) allowing NHP to force them to turn around and all go back whence they came.

When they eventually reopened Donner Pass the next evening, this was the result:

Here's a zoom in on just the last ~12,000 years (since the end of the last glaciation which covered most of N. America with an ice sheet. See any reason to panic?

We've had around an inch, maybe as much as an inch and a half through the whole month. We live about an hour south of Michigan and an hour east of Indiana in NOhio. What we've had is more rain than usual and the accompanying slop that goes with it. According to the semi-local weather reports we are for 2021, experiencing about the 5th wettest year on record. I don't want the snow fall that the Sierra's have gotten, but I'd sure like to see it get cold enough to freeze the ground.

I have done a lot of reading in climate change lately. Three guys in particular:

1. False Alarm by Bjorn Lomborg
2. Unsettled by Steven Koonin
3. Apocalypse Never by Michael Shellenberger

All three books rely heavily on the IPCC summaries. They all agree that while climate change is happening and humans are indeed adding to climate change, it absolutely is NOT any kind of disaster or emergency.

The answer is adaptation, using energy dense energy sources like natural gas and nuclear, and continuing to become cleaner and cleaner in our emissions--in an economically sustainable way. Poverty is hard on the environment.

They all point out that media and the politicians always run with the worst case scenario which is extremely unlikely. These guys have confidence in climate science, but not in how it is marketed.

These books are worth reading.

At the top of Donner Pass there is a rest stop and a few CalTrans buildings.
As for snow, this is like it used to be in years past. At least we are getting some of the good old snow fall that we had every year up here. Might just help put a dent into the drought in the state with a lot better run off in the Yuba RIver and a few others in the area. This well be great.
You can't, there's no village there. It's a road sign on I-80 in National Forest.
