Snake Skin Finish on a Fluted Barrel??

I believe they use that protective plastic mesh that's shipped with most barrels, and bead blast over it. Another technique SG & Y also used a vibratory sander (in-line, not orbital?) with the barrel spinning in the lathe.

How could it not disturb the mesh when using a sander.
I have a fluted barrel with the SS finish and I figured it was fluted after the SS finish was done.

The mesh is not used using the sander method. Somehow Speedy got a repeatable pattern....I believe he was the first to call it "snakeskin"

I wonder if he used some sort of decal and sanded over it?
Would that be possible?
The one I have was done by Speedy and the flutes are dull and the area between the lines in the SS are dull w/the lines shiney.

Speedy has a post on here regarding the new LT-32 powder, might try a PM to him. He might give you a reply, or not.
