Some of the older gun didn't have oneI just found a Remington Matchmaster 513-T in really nice shape. It has a Redfield receiver site and globe site mounted and is stamped "US PROPERTY" on the barrel and the receiver,
I can't find the serial number.
Can someone help me locate it~????
I don't mean to be snarky or disrespectful, but if you're not familiar with the Remington 513-T, why would you answer a question like mine? Some of the older gun didn't have one
That's it~! Thank you Denny. Now how do I find out when it was made~?Look on the bottom of the barrel just in front of the stock. That is where it is on my 1946 513T. Danny
Date code on the side of the barrel near the receiverThat's it~! Thank you Denny. Now how do I find out when it was made~?
I don't mean to be snarky or disrespectful, but if you're not familiar with the Remington 513-T, why would you answer a question I have run across firearms of that era that had no sn, it wasn't a requirement by law at that time, I was only suggesting that yours might be one of them, most members on this forum are appreciative any help or suggestions given, I'm so sorry for any Miscommunication on my part, and will sure as hell be more careful in the future
I don't think Mark was being snarky, prior to (I think) 1968 firearms weren't required by law to have a serial number.I don't mean to be snarky or disrespectful, but if you're not familiar with the Remington 513-T, why would you answer a question like mine?
I didn't mean he was being snarky, My comment was that I didn't mean to be so. His reply sounded as though he didn't know anything about these Remingtons and that people perhaps shouldn't make remarks about so about a particular firearm they have no knowledge of~!I don't think Mark was being snarky, prior to (I think) 1968 firearms weren't required by law to have a serial number.
Really appreciate that info. Looks like I found one built in April 1943.. At years of age 81 it's in amazing shape. Think I should buy it~? Do they have much value~?Date code on the side of the barrel near the receiver
Yes, I read your post wrong, the snarky part of it anyway.I didn't mean he was being snarky, My comment was that I didn't mean to be so. If I just got my hands on a rifle I was totally unfamiliar with, I would reach out for someone who could answer questions about it. I was looking for that person or persons who did in fact know something about Remingtons. Why would I bother to answer someone who had questions about a Quakenbush when I knew nothing about that rifle~??????Yes, I read your post wrong, the snarky part of it anyway.
How much he knows about Remington's, I haven't a clue. I do believe all he was doing was point out the fact that it's possible that older guns don't have serial numbers. Do you see the irony that you didn't know where to look for the serial number but question how much others know about Remington's?
Glad you found the info you were looking for.
