SMK 168gr - Variations in ogive

Hello everyone, long time lurker first time poster here :)

I have a couple of boxes of smk 168gr for my .308.
I used hornady bullet comparator to check the variation between bullets, couple of boxes go from 0.594" to 0.600", while one box had slightly different measures, from 0.600" to 0.617".

Since I do not have a lot of experience with reloading (just started half a year ago), I was wondering if this should have any impact on groups or I can just ignore this and load to my preferred CBTO?
Also, is this normal with SMK? What kind of variance is generally acceptable when measuring bullets ogive to base?

Best regards,
Martin

When I did found a good load, the groups were solid, slightly over 1/2 moa.
But I did measure ogive on bullets from the 1st load I tested, and sorted them in 4 groups with similar ogive to base length. Then I used bullets from the same group when loading new batch.
The problem is I do not know what to expect when I start using the bullets from the new box with longer ogive to base length...

you will most likely need to re tune for optimum accuracy, if you continue to use them order in larger quantities (500 box)

Yup , I use the 168gr SMK in my .308 loads with IMR-4064.... I weigh the bullets and group them up... Gave up on measuring them because of exactly what your seeing.... I tryed measurements and weight sorting but found just weight sorting was good enough for my needs...
