Take an old cleaning brush and wrap it with some copper scouring filaments from a Chore Boy pad. Make sure it is pure copper. Scrub it out. Plated bullets will lead even at low velocities. Best to use hard cast.
So my 50sub project leaded up......bad
Chore Boy, Lewis Lead Remover, I tried every Cowboy blend and was shopping for 'le'trical devices ....... then I stopped and asked my kid, the pyrotechnical chemist for help.
He thought for a minnit and opined "a strong hydrogen peroxide solution should do it. Make sure to warm the barrel and rewarm periodically until done and if it quits fuming you might need to pour out and replenish the liquid"........ So I made up a tube of PVC and when my 5 hunner'dollar barrel started smoking and fizzing I did wonder, some....
I wrote more about it, procedure and results here http://benchrest.com/showthread.php?91714-Got-The-Lead-Out&highlight=hydrogen+peroxide
And (I didn't reread it all to see if it's complete) the peroxide used was 'Baquacil' a swimming pool treatment. 30% hydrogen peroxide.
It WILL take the lead out, f'real.
No, not barrel weights. The set screws (3 bottom 4 top) are for bolt on rails. Top side scope mount and bottom side rail for laser or flash light or ???. Its a Performance Center model called "Hunter"barrel weights

Back to the issue at hand,.. my smith got the barrel re-crowned and did a great job it looks perfect and factory. I got my Lewis lead remover kit over the holiday and put it to use and the only way I could get the shit out of the barrel was to use the kit AND JB bore paste. It cleaned it all out after some work but it looks great now. Everybody,... thanks for the help!!
I think more copper than lead and the copper got stuck and just kept tearing up more bullets as they went past the bad spot. Clearly on me as I should have never had let it get that bad. In my defense I never thought it would get that bad in so few rounds fired, my best guess is right at 260 rounds. So it was lead?
