Smiley Hensley

I just learned that the Benchrest community has lost one of its most beloved members. Smiley Hensley was an unassuming great shooter who (as far as I know) was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. Almost all of the short range shooters have shot over his great wind flags at one time or another. His personality, not his great flags, is responsible for the admiration that he received. We are truly diminished with the passing of this man. Rest in peace friend. James Mock

He will be missed for sure. There wasnt a single person that didnt smile when he walked up. Glad i have a full rotation of his flags. Sad sad day for sure

Another good one gone. I always enjoyed being around Smiley at the matches especially in the evenings when he would stop by and socialize. A Hall of Fame shooter and really nice guy.

I met Smiley at the 2002 IBS School and had a chance to chat with him. After that, anytime I saw his name in a match report or in an article, I smiled. That's the impression he made on me. My condolences to his family.

Smiley was very well known and liked he will be missed but not forgotten.
He is one of a few shooters that could kick your butt shooting a Tasco scope.
