I was walking with the Mrs before dark last night and came upon one of the smaller rattlers I’ve seen, 7-8 inches at the most. Looked like a bull snake at first but he had a button on his tail and he was where my grandboys play, his life cycle ended with that discovery.
I‘ve caught snakes all my life including rattle snakes and coral snakes but I quit catching the venomous snakes a few years ago after watching a friend go through a really bad bite episode, he was careless and got a bit. I leave them be if they aren’t by the house.
Thought I’d share in case you haven’t seen a small rattle.
