Small Rifle Primer Shortage

Just curious. How long do you guys think this primer shortage is going to last. How many primers do you keep on the shelf to weather these types of shortages?

The amount needed for a season... especially during presidential election years:D!

Better vote and pray. If the wrong person and persons gets elected, you will quickly learn about shortages or worse. Not just primers.

Have not seen any sign of primer shortage in my area and the gun shops here.
I haven’t seen a shortage but the local shop has a 1000pc limit on primers and 1 jug on powder. That seems to be a reasonable compromise.

The past couple shortages have been about 18 months.
I decided to keep 3 year's supply on hand.

If you look around a bit you will see that there are many more empty shelves than just SRP. My Wife does a lot of canning and small mouth jar lids are now getting difficult to find. Some sources are asking more than a buck a lid. Thats probably a 4-6 X mark up. If things dont stabilize before too long there will be a lot more of this.

I reload my primers, just pound out the dent . put some match head material in and put the anvil back in place with super glue. I call them (match primers). Soo easy.

Posted before !
last week Sportsman's Warehouse Bend Oregon.
I was looking at the powder area , 3 boxes of 1000 Federal Primers only in the store.
As I looked a Guy doing Mock 1 flow by and with one arm out cleaned the shelve .

Watch out for price gougers to, came across a guy selling primers on Gun Broker for $110.00 per 1000. I can still buy locally but the prices are going up with Federal match large near $45 per 1000.

Found some an hour away. Not exactly what I wanted but we will make do and experiment some. They have 205, 205m AR, br4 and Winchester. I went ahead and bought some 205 and br4. BR4s are 60 per 1000. They should shoot really good for that price. 205 were 40.

I keep about 10K each size on hand for everything except magnum pistol and large rifle primers, then it's 5-6K. I saw Powder Valley was completely cleaned out so I got worried, took my inventory, and feel better.

Anyone who knows me knows that the word shortage doesn't exist in my world. Excess is more like it. I have enough stinking powder, primers, brass, and match bullets for 2 lifetimes.
