Small Rifle primer pocket depth not deep enough

I was priming some Lapua 6mm BR cases and had my priming tool jam. After taking it apart and getting the partially inserted primer out, I found the primer pocket measured about .080 deep while other cases measured in the .120's. Has anyone else experienced this, and would it be recommended to discard that piece of brass or use a pocket uniformer cutter and cut it deeper.

I'm inclined to toss it because I don't know why it's that way, but it's new never fired brass that's been prepped for 30BR.

What are your thoughts - thanks.

You should be able to get the case head thickness using calipers - if it measures the same as a good case you should be able too use a uniformer to get the proper depth. If the case head thickness is shorter than normal it should go in the brass bucket as it may not stand up to pressure; using it could be exciting in a very bad way.

Toss it if tis just one or two...( How many is the question ) ?
It's just one out of 1/2 of the box. I haven't checked the others 1/2. The rest of the cases seem Ok as the primers went in, felt normal and look fine.

The biggest problem is that the primer only went in partially and I couldn't get the case back out of the shell holder in the priming tool and it had to be disassembled. Then the primer had to be pressed out while still in that shell holder.

I'm not comfortable removing live primers, but it came out uneventfully.

Of course I reassembled everything and assumed I had somehow got the primer in crooked and proceeded to re-prime the case, again. I then had the same problem.

The third time, I thought perhaps I had crushed the case's primer pocket slightly and tried using a primer pocket uniformer and realized it wasn't going in near deep enough, but it was removing metal at the bottom. That's when I measured.

I've never seen that happen before, but it sure took a lot of time taking things apart.

I'd let Lapua know, I believe they will want to know about this. Also, their customer support is awesome and they'll take care of you.
I don't know if they will do anything because it is only one as far I know. However, I do have 2 more unopened boxes of the same lot and 50 cases I haven't looked at.

It probably is a good idea to contact them as it may be a bad lot and I don't want to prep a bunch for 30BR with the work involved using defective lots.

Thanks

If there's one error there may be linked issues with dimensions you're not measuring. I wouldn't rely on that brass until I'd gone over it with a fine tooth comb. If Lapua offers to replace the entire lot, I'd take them up on it - it's too much work to validate that much brass.

Toss it . I seriously doubt there is that much material in the bottom of the pocket , to the inside of the case .

What is the lot number of the brass ?

I have a box of Lapua 6BR brass and maybe one in ten were shallow in the pocket. Easily fixed with the Sinclair tool, no issues with a thin base when I checked. Tossing them when $3 each here and unobtainable, I don't think so..

One in ten I am sending the box back. One in one hundred I am tossing that one.
