Small firing pin with 243/260?

I'm looking at building a 260 on a Defiance Rebel action, and pondering if I should go with a small firing pin, just in case somewhere down the road I'll be chambering it for a cartridge using a small rifle primer?

For those using a small firing pin on a large rifle primer, any issues I need to be aware of? I realize there's a chance of pierced primers on hot loads, but I'm the type who doesn't normally like running hot loads.

Tell me the good and bad?

Thanks!

Small firing pins don't relate to small primers. It relates to the amount of pressure transferred around the primer during ignition.

Thanks Adam. I have recommended Greg to my friends for bushing their bolts but never saw this video before. Greg Tannel working his magic.

It's not clear whether you own this action already or you will be ordering it. My original thought was that you needed to order this action. If that's the case then Defiance can make you a bolt which uses the small firing pin so you can avoid having to bush it. Or you can order the hybrid firing pin which is mid-way between the standard pin diameter and the small firing pin diameter.

To alleviate any confusion you can call Defiance and Norm or Mike can help with your decision.

Regards.

Thank you everyone for your input and advice.
Kurz, I didn't know Defiance made a mid-sized firing pin? Good to know.
I'm going to order the small size firing pin for my build.
A friend who shoots Bighorn actions told me those all come with small firing pins, even the long actions.
