Small base sizing die

timeout

Silver $$ Contributor
My brother purchased a large quantity of used 6.5X47 Lapua brass for his 30X47. I expanded the necks and skim turned them. As it turns out the web end of the used brass is .0025" larger diameter than the brass he has previously fired in his rifle. He has a Harrell's die dimensioned from brass fired in his rifle. I ran a cartridge case through the Harrell's die and it bumps the shoulder back before curing the size problem. I have zero experience with small base dies. Is a small base die the direction I need to be going to resolve the issue? If so, since a 30X47 small base die will be tough to find, will a .308 small base die work? Thanks for your suggestions!

You can use a 308 SB die, or you can use a 45 Auto sizing die.

See if you can barrow one from a friend - carbide is even better.

Thanks for the info.
