slow twist 6BR bbl length

only downside to that bench out the basement door is keeping fresh barrels and a stock of primers ,powder and bullets,,

I really have faith in this project,,and already thinking ahead to the next one,,when the 6PPC bbl gives up I believe I want to try the 30 Major on the Farley action as they say bbl life just goes on and on,,,

If the action will handle either/or...either is very good. Popular doesn't define good, to me. If your action is dedicated to the existing ppc bolt face, I think that answers which 30 to use. I absolutely despise rebating rims when there IS a viable and proven alternative. Yes, barrel life is phenomenal, but it is from the BR or the Major. IME, it slightly more than offsets the extra cost of bullets vs a 6ppc and both 30's stay in tune much better than a ppc and n133...Just my experience. ..and I have been down all three roads, multiple times.--Mike

my Farley action came with an 8 twist 6BR barrel chambered by Dan Dowling and it shoots very well at 600 yards,,but the boltface is kinda tight,,brass shot from another rifle wont fit and new brass works well for about 5-6 loadings and then the ejector wont hardly push the case out of the bolt,,

when time comes I will get some brass and load a few rounds and try and get us a reamer to match the loaded rounds close as we can,,I really think with this bolt I will be better off with the Grendel brass,,

If you talk with Kiff, we've been through all of the specs..a few times already. I'm very happy with the specs that I settled on after doing all of the design work for it in 2007. If you ask for a 30 Major Match by my dimensions, you should be fine and dies are a cinch. He may even have the reamer in stock. Since I designed it, I've worked through most possible configurations and dies. Call me for details.---Mike

thanx Mike I will contact you when I get ready to start on it,,probably be this fall/winter and try and start shooting it in a match next spring,,my PPC should last the rest of this year,,I sure hope at least,,I may be a little harder on a bbl than some people, but hey I dont care I like to shoot,,

Ralph Stewart is a first class group shooter. I believe that he at one time held the 200 yard group WR.

It was his 6 PPC dies and reamer they were the basis for the 30 Major-ish cartridge that holds the 100 yard record.
