slow twist 6 dasher

has anybody hear built a slow twist dasher shooting 55 to 75 grain bullets, and would you care to share your results, bullets, powder, speeds, twist of barrel, accuracy. thanks in advance

Did as an experiment a few years ago. Run my Dasher reamer in a coulpe of used ppc barrels and shot the same bullets as our ppcs (65-68gr). Shot almost as good as a ppc at 3800fps plus. I won't give any loads out. I saw one at one of our 100 and 300yd varmint matches shoot a 199 out of a possible 200 points. I think they would make a good bench rifle and a great varmint rifle. These were 1:14 twist barrels.

I just chambered up a 12 twist Dasher with a .104 free bore. I run H335 and 65 grain VMAX up around 3600 with a powder puff load. There is LOTS of room to go faster, but it shot itty bitty groups at 35 grains/3600fps. Good enough for pdogs. I also ran the 58 grain VMAX up to ??? at 40 grains of H335. Ended up at 38 grains right at 4000FPS. Didn't shoot as well as the 65's, but killed a pile of dogs with it this summer.

Good luck,

Tod

I shot the barrel out of two, shooting 60g right at 3900 fps and 70g at 3550 using H335, 23.5" used benchrest barrels. 55g will get you in the 4050 fps area. Dog town shooting was hot and heavy. You will not regret using H335 in a slow twist with those bullet weights, long shot strings in between cleanings. I shot a lot of very, very tiny groups with the 60's. Mine was a zero freebore reamer.

Ackleyman,

Did you rent a reamer or did you have your own? I couldn't find a zero freebore Dasher reamer anywhere. Settled on a .104/272.

Thanks,
Tod

Todd, I have my own, and the zero freebore reamer works incredible for 55g nosler/blitz king-75g v max...unreal barrel life. I shoot H335 and aa2230, thick cup primer
