Slow .270 win

I hate to sound like a broken record but I believe everybody on this thread has tried to make it clear that you should try MORE POWDER. You stated that you're at a STARTING load and are asking about switching to mag primers? I'm afraid that you may want to study hand loading a bit more before you get much further. Mag primers have a bit hotter ignition characteristics for slower harder to ignite MAGNUM powders and will have little effect on velocity when used with a starting charge weight of medium/slow powders in a 270 Win. Again, try MORE powder and watch for pressure signs. You shouldn't have a bit of trouble exceeding your gal's velocity numbers. One more thing to think about is that factory munitions are loaded with proprietary blends of powders that we hand loaders DO NOT have access to and will rarely be able to duplicate their velocity.

Thanks for your input. This thread was started to see why my girl friends 7mm-08 was faster then my 270. Asking about mag primers is just asking. I’m wondering if it would help with burning more powder faster. Also I can’t do much shooting until spring due to the temps where I live.

Thanks.

you should be ashamed of yourself, letting siiri out shoot you with a little 7-08 ???
LOL,thats just way funny :) wait till she starts reloading for the little savage, she might really scare you.

Haha, She wants a 204 ruger tho. So she will have the fastest gun. Mine would be biggest still. ;D

Its to bad winters are so cold. Shooting is addicting and I don't want to stop. I was just starting to get good too.

Do you have a basement, a garage? Get a couple of nice pellet guns. They can be amazingly acurate and help you work on your mechanics.

mattri is spot on, pellet guns or .22 rimfires with cb caps in the basement can be shot safely,
and will give you trigger time. you can hone your bench skills, spend time with your gal doing what the two of you love to do (IN THE WARMTH OF YOUR HOME ;)
Get on the web and search for how to build a pellet trap so you don't have pellets all over the basement. Try contacting these people and tell them what you are wanting to do and the distance you will be shooting, I forgot his name but he is real helpfull.
https://www.airgunsofarizona.com Even if you can't purchase one from them you can pick his brain for a accurate indoor pellet rifle. Good luck.

RWS or a B26 might be a good option. Higher end airguns, especially springers are very accurate, and they are very good at showing you anything that may be wrong with your form. If you can shoot a springer accurately you can shoot a firearm accurately but not the other way around.

My experience has been a little different than Mattri's I don't care for the springer's for a couple of reasons. One is they have a lot of recoil, so much in fact its hard to keep a scope on it, even the top dollar air gun scopes. Two for my use there accuracy repeatability isn't near good enough, for your use in the basement K0na_stinky accuracy might be ok. There fast, break open action drop in pellet close and fire. The Co2 are fast and accurate, but you are always changing cylinders. The pellet guns I would endorse would be the pre-charged air guns. I have owned airforce, a couple different FX ( which I liked the best) EUN JIN (Which was very accurate but had to have repaired several times) I may buy a FWB but there very expensive :-\ The brands I have owned @ the distance you would probably be able to shoot in a basement ( up to 25 yds) you can keep them in one hole for five shots.
I use a scuba tank to fill them I never used a foot or hand pump but they don't look fun. If your going to hunt @ all I highly suggest the .22 cal I also feel there more accurate. Anyway thats been my experience with air rifles.

Thats a nice looking air rifle, I have no experience with them, but if it is the same cz as the regular cz rimfire and centerfire rifles it should be a great rifle. Yor painball tank should work fine.

Well I tryed alittle hotter load. 53.9gr of reloader 19. Got 2850 FPS with worm bullets and 2750 with ones that I let cool off.

Still no pressure signs.

What steps should I go up in? Is 0.5 gr to much?

Thanks.
