Sling screw stuck in stud

Has anyone had trouble unscrewing a sling swivel screw from the imbedded stud? The stud comes out of the wood ok, but I can't get the sling swivel screw out of the stud. I want to remove the sling swivel, but leave the stud intact.

Post a picture. Normally they are spring loaded and you push in and turn a 1/4 turn. It could be rusted requiring a penetrative oil.
Impossible to say without seeing.

Sounds like that rust or foreign matter had locked the threads. I would gently remove the stud from the wood and soak the whole thing in some kind of penetrating oil, like Kroil for a few days or as long as it takes to loosen it up, if that doesn't help try some heat , maybe a heat gun, not a flame. Then you may have to get forceful.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Looks like someone used plumber's tape in there at some point.
