sleeving a bolt set up tooling question?

I have a question on how to make the plug for the front of the bolt nose. It appears to be just a snugish fitting plug with a pin protruding to engage the firing pin hole and a 60degree center pilot in the back? Is it just this simple or is there more to it? Do you need to remove the extractor? Im looking to do my own rifle for practice and experience If i bugger it i"ll call Dave

This was my answer, a mini spider that allows you to indicate the bolt body in.

How do you dial out the banana shape of the body?
I've had many that would run zero on the ends and the middle of the body was out a good bit.
Different way to skin a cat. I made a plug that fit into the firing pin hole and then moved the chuck to get the body aligned.

Hell on a 700 everything is a compromise.

Everything is a compromise, I've not encountered one yet that's been really bad. The thing that kills me is the braze joint that is so crappy you think Stevie Wonder was on the QC line at big Green.

I am making my own bolts and bolt handles. Hopefully I will be selling replacement bolts and bolt handles in the near future. The more I make the better the price. Right now I am doing 701" bolts.

If you are retailing them at $60 I'll buy them from you. Even if they're .6995.

I know this is an old thread but can ee get some more photos of the handle holding/timing jig you made for that Remington 700 bolt? Much appreciated and a great idea.
