SKB cases warranty- any experiences?

i have a large skb rifle case thats ata rated made for air travel: https://www.skbcases.com/sports/sku.php?cat=9&pid=40

Its warrantied for life and designed for 100 airplane trips. Well lets just say klm or delta took that as a challenge and it only made it 4 trips. It was a fairly expensive case so i hate to just scrap it but also hate to deal with sucky customer service. All 4 corners are shattered

Sometimes I think when they see it's a gun case, they try to see how much it will take to destroy it. I know a guy that bought a gun from a guy in the south, it was shipped in a good case. When he received it and opened it up the laminated stock was broke at the wrist. It takes a alot to break a lamimated stock at the wrist, like maybe running over it with a forklift.

I believe even a gun damaged in the one model of a SKB case is covered up to a certain amount. I have two of them and they are pretty much indestructible. Matt

Yes the contents are warrantied on this case too. I can see why they would i dont think a forklift could hurt a rifle in this case with the bunk bed design. It always had a beater express rifle in it with no scope so it cant be torn up anyway

They seen mine and must have figured i was one of those guys clinging to my religion and guns

My only warranty experience with SKB was fantastic. I’m sure they will take care of you. Sad what must go on in the bowels of airport luggage handling areas.

I really hope SKB is getting reimbursed from the offending airlines because they are the problem. Next to TSA "officers", baggage handlers thump my hot button most. This stuff happens right out in the open. I've watched them throw a rifle case OVER the liddle baggin' wagon, then back over several more times, laughing. And heard people on the plane cheering them on.... So me, being me, I purposely advertise "rifle case" "This Side Up", "Fragile" etc and let 'em have their fun, then bill for it.

I'm currently in a 3-way battle with TSA, GSP and Delta over the fact that I (purposely) took a box of ELR bullets in my carryon and let Bill Else bust me down in the airport checkin line in Greenville/Spartanburg. (I use his name because I told him I would :) the other 6 people involved, including the police officer who overlooked the affair are to be unnamed unless this thing doesn't resolve to me satisfaction)

But my point is, it's war........

My other civil war concerns people working in restaurants who'll spit in a serviceman's or police officer's food. It simply stuns me how many people think this sort of behavior is OK or even funny.

I have 2 custom built ziegel cases that look like they have been to war. I did get to see them load one from the plane window one time. brand new polished upright double rifle case and the guy took it off the wagon, shoved some other guys out of the way and carefully placed it in the plane. I was shocked. of course when i picked it up 2 connections later it looked 10yrs old.

I’ve used the skb warranty twice on rifle cases. Corners cracking. Called them and was told to smack a shipping label on it, no box, and call them with the tracking #. Guy said he didn’t care if it came back in 1 piece or at all for that matter. New, upgraded case was shipped before they received the return.

Yikes, that thing got a woopin. Both times I called skb they didn’t even require I send pictures but I’m sure it will help. They were so easy. Very cool to work with. I was told to, seriously, smack a shipping label on the outside of it and send it. Email them with the tracking # and out comes a new one. Both times they upgraded my case from the older style to the newer ones. Print out a ups shipping label and schedule a pick up. Always cheaper then going to a ups store

I have seen baggage handlers throw large cases on the top of the trailers and they just slid across and off the other side to the ground.

well I'm starting to get disappointed. I have sent them one of the pre-formed type customer service emails on their site 3 times this month and havent got a reply, call back or a cussing. starting to think SKB customer service actually sucks since its me trying to use it with my luck. that was a very expensive case too that I paid extra for just because it was ATA rated for 100 flights. shoulda got a pelican I guess- my work tools have pelican cases that fly around the world every week and i've never even seen a crack in one and with the weight and all the fragile stickers I know theyre a target. those ziegel cases in the background of that pic have made many more trips and dont even look bad.

just another reason not to fly,if I can't walk,drive my truck,or ride my Harley,,I stay home,,

Dusty, I have the same case and yes it's taken a beating but never anything like that. It looks like it was dropped from a
fair amount of height. I've got around 40 to 50 trips on mine with some European airport transfers and except for the corners being dinged up, it's still in good shape. Having said that, I don't think it's the fault of case that it's in that condition. If the SKB route doesn't hunt, have you considered making a claim with Delta?

Unfortunately getting to Africa that way isn't an option. That and driving in my neck of the woods is almost a death wish. I swear the next time I see someone texting and driving, I'm going to put my window down and throw my beer at them. :p:D
when I went to west Africa I was Capt, of ocean going tug towing big ass barge with compressor unit, unloaded in Ivory Coast and stayed, worked there for 2 1/2 years working anchors for
pipe laying barge off Nigeria.took my stuff with me,CZ 416 Rigby Safari,,4 months working,1 month off , go to South Africa and Kenya on off time,2 1/2 years of TAX FREE money

Damn that's horrible...!!! My wife travels constantly and we end up buying new luggage once a year from their handling techniques...

Im just feel pretty let down. If they would answer me and tell me to pound sand id be happier than the media blackout ignoring game. I love the case with the wheels and all so i would buy another one if they would just tell me its not covered or something. Feel like a chump on this one.
