sizing and then tumbling???

i read that some people are sizing them tumbling their brass, i like this from the perspective of clean brass but won't the tumbling in theory effect the case necks even just a bit that could effect concentricity neck tension etc... just wanted to hear your thoughts on this if its undetectable i guess i rather have spotless brass but if there is an effect my brass looks pretty clean even after i size and wipe it down.
thought welcomed.

I've also considered this and decided that I don't want to scratch up the inside of my dies. I think I'm going to start tumbling mine before and after sizing and after any brass preparation that i do, ie: cleaning and uniforming primer pockets and chamfering, etc.

vibrator does not tend to alter necks like tumbler, i vibrate, size then vibrate for a short run5-10 min to get lub off

I use an actual tumbler not a vibratory cleaner (why do the makers call them tumblers?)

Anyway's, I tumble prior to sizing because I don't want carbon and dirt in my dies.

Sizing doesn't make by brass dirty.

Since my Spaceguns spit out filthy cases, I tumble clean with stainless media then re-size and then they go into the vibratory with crushed walnut to get the Imperial wax off and give them a nice finish.

The vibratory "tumblers" (truly a misnomer) shouldn't affect the necks at all.

I vibrate in corn cob with Midway or Flitz polish , then size, then clean primer pockets, then trim, then vibrate again to remove lube. Usually run in vibrator for 3 hours each time as that is what the timer is set for and don't bother changing it. When done I use compressed air to blow out the cases and flash holes before loading.

ok thanks guys i was just hearing about people TRUE tumbling in ss media and if that didnt effect things it would be very convenient as i could pop primers out and size in one step but i guess it is not the norm but an outlier that could effect necks.
thanks

I've never been able to see a difference in necks tumbling in SS media before or after sizing, so lately I've just been sizing first and tumbling to take a step out of it. I check run out an all my match ammo, and I never see more than .002" with most of it being .0005" - .001". Haven't been able to see a difference tumbling before or after.

I'm another one that vibratory tumbles twice. Once to clean the brass of debris, again to get the case lube off. My media is very gentle and the tumbler I use doesn't deform case necks. The worst that happens to me is that I drop a sized case on the concrete between steps which causes me to have to resize the necks.

Now some admit to going to the dark side any others? Co any competition br guys do it and not notice?

I size my fired brass, then tumble them for about four hours in dry corn cob media in my RCBS Sidewinder rotory tumbler. I don't worry about the necks.

I take a peek at all of the necks before I drop the powder......I have yet to see a ding in the neck from a ride on the tilt-o-wirl.....

And I have loaded dozens of rounds!!! ;)

I think that the potential for dinging necks, by actual tumbling, has a lot to do with how far the cases can fall in the particular drum, and possibly how full the drum is. The thickness of the necks, and the type of media would also enter in. The RCBS unit would seem to minimize the danger, due to its drum diameter.

When I tumble, I use a Thumler Model B with 5# of SS media, water (enough to cover the brass), and some soap. The brass doesn't fall very far when it tumbles inside the six-sided drum, and I suspect the liquid further cushions the impact. I haven't noticed any necks going out-of-round.
