For some reason (too much spiked Eggnog?) we have been deluged this week by Forum members (all non-contributors) angrily asking why they can't post more Classified Ads. One fellow demanded "Immediate Action... or else!". It's remarkable how indignant some folks get when their FREE Stuff runs out...

HERE is the deal. All members get six free ads (including WTB threads) in a 12-month period. After that you need to upgrade to Silver or Gold. That's simple and more than fair. Here's the upgrade link:

As of 6/3/2017 we instituted a new system for the Classifieds.

All members can continue to post classifieds for free. However basic members are limited to six (6) free classified ads per year.

You can get UNLIMITED CLASSIFIEDS for one year with a $20 Silver membership or a $50 Gold membership.

We have made this change because, with over 38,000 members, our Classifieds system has been consuming a huge amount of time/money resources with no revenue return.

With this new system the basic level user can still post a half-dozen ads for free. However, the power users who sell many items will now be asked to help support the site. The $20 Silver membership works out to just $1.67 per month -- less than the price of a cup of coffee.

Tell him to "blow it out is ass" if he don't like get lost. $20-$100 a year is a small price to pay for all the info you can get off this site. $20 a year is like "pissing in the ocean" to be able to sell all you want on here. Most volume sellers on here make that back on one or two sales. Keep it the way it is or make it that you MUST be a "silver contributor" to sell anything here. Let him put that in his pipe and smoke it.

This is long over due. The amount of merchandise that gets exchanged on the classifieds requires a good amount of oversight, to make a silly statement that sounds like a threat shows a real lack of appreciation for the forum and the people who manage it.

Six FREE??? How about two or maybe even one? For twenty bucks a year, if a seller can't figure out how cheap it is to sell on here, maybe he should let ebay, gunbroker or one of the other sites take a bigger piece of his pie.

I think 6 free classifieds sales is to generous.
Especially when there's no assured way to keep track of the amount of purchases, making it unlimited.

One way contributing members could help the cause, would be to have 2 prices listed on our sales:
The price for site contributors, and $20 additional price for non-contributors. Then in return contribute it.
Bet seeing $20 additional prices to non-contributors would spark many to contribute.

Buyers help everyone. The more buyers you have, the more a market thrives. I think buying should be free and encouraged.

I live outside the US so I can’t use the classified buy n sell... I became a Gold member because I think this site is well worth at least a small contribution each year to help keep it up and running.. having access to free classifieds would be an added bonus. Just my opinion.
