Site paint

I used a base coat of white, recommended, then some rocket pain orange on the front site of a 27-2. I replaced the front sight on a 686 with a green HIVIZ, on the rear I installed a wide 'V' "dot the i" sight from XS Sights, be sure the height is correct for your gun. I used the green HIVIZ also on a 617, the rear is a "V" from Brownell's of the recommended height. I used white electricians tape for the vertical line to make the "dot the i". Very small bottles of paint are available at a shop that sells model planes, rockets, cars etc. My 84 year ole eyes see these sights pretty well. A small very fine, maybe a single hair brush, like auto pin stripers use could be found for the rear sight.

I think Brownells used to carry something called "sight black". Ilooked but don't see it on their site now. Just flat black paint works though. You can use oxpho blue cold blue too. It has a pretty matt finish as long as you don't buff it shiny. Holds up decent too. One of the better "blue in a bottle" products.

I usually go the other way and use hi-viz paint. If the sight does not have 'dots' then I make my own with a dremel. My wife likes orange for hers. I used to do white, but, found the orange does better for me now, especially in low light or indoors. I like 3 dots or a line across the back and dot or bar on front.

As stated above, if you use white first then it reduces the number of coats to get a good color.

with dots, I like doing a High Viz Yellow in the center between the two white
