Single Stage Trigger vs Two Stage Trigger

I purchased a Remington 700 and had the barrel floated, the action trued and bedded. Currently, I have a stock trigger and am thinking about installing an after market one or two stage trigger. I want to use this rifle in F T/R and silhouette shooting out to a maximum of 600 meters/yards. My question is which trigger is best for these disciplines? Is this a personal preference decision? I know this is not the best rifle for what I want to use it for. I just want to see if I like these disciplines. Any comments will be appreciated.

You hit the nail on the head; I feel it’s a matter of personal preference. As recently as a few of years ago, I hated 2 stage triggers. However after returning to the competitive circle I found that a 2 stage gave me some advantages that a single stage didn’t. I like the fact that I can be deep in the 1st stage and if something either doesn’t feel right (NPA), or if the conditions change, I can back off the trigger and start over. This is something I can’t do with a single stage. Now if I were shooting a tactical course, the rifle would be a single stage at about 2 lbs. Again, all of this is just my personal preference.
I hope this helps,
Lloyd
