Sinclair International East Coast FullBore Nationals!

You guys are so far ahead of me. I just got a new barrel mounted, hoping for the chance for load testing at 600 tomorrow.

I better get registered too.

You have a few weeks yet but you better get on it.

I'm looking forward to it Keith, hopefully I can pick up some more tips from you, Phil, Jim, and others. Lord knows I need all the help I can get.

We are about a week and a half away. Just hope that the winds are nothing like this past weekend at Butner. If so, be prepared to suck up your pride!

Yup, there were a LOT of bruised egos this past weekend. You wouldnt think wind that appeared to be in the less than 5 mph range yesterday would be that difficult to get a handle on. Some of the lowest team scores I have ever seen up there. But, it sure was fun playing in that stuff. Just wasnt exactly the type of wind I wanted to put my 13 yr old in for his first 1,000 yard match on a sling/irons rifle (he has been shooting F class since he was 10 though) but he did really well until he got caught in the only reversal we saw during the individual strings yesterday and ended up just of the edge of the target for a miss....he recovered well though.

Honestly, I sorta hope we have winds like that for the matches...will make it quite interesting....and we will see if we learned anything! ;)

I can tell ya'll what was going on but I can't tell you how to deal with it. We could see it but we couldn't dope it. The wind was at the top of the trajectory (we could see it in the broomstraw on top of the impact berm) but the range mirage and flags showed almost nothing. No indicators other than it was blowing pretty hard "up there".

Oak Ridge was handing out beatings this weekend, esp. Saturday. (I used several white pasters, though I am happy to say never needed one myself, thought I did toss a couple of 7s over the course of the weekend.).

Looking forward to the Full Bore matches, I may finally get enough shots in to get a FB classification. I've got some scores turned in, just not enough to classify. I'm partway there, when I look my number up it at least shows "F-Class Full Bore - Unclassified"

and weather for that part of the week is looking pretty good....for the East Coast Palma, not so good. :-(

heheheh, looking at the NWS forecast it looks like it may be quite Raton-like this week.

How far do I hold on the target next to me for 25MPH? :o

I just got back from practice and its really starting to wild over there. I shot through 600 (just finished the ECPC so didnt need to confirm any zeroes at 9 and 1000) and wind was kicking up and had a 2 min shift at 600. Figure 9 and 1000 are going to be fun today...wont be any confirming wind zeros, thats for sure! Rest of week looks good except for Saturday.

Jeff is updating the site as the matcha happen. Here's the link.
