Sinclair Insert-Style Bullet Comparator Insert 6MM

I ordered my first 6MM Comparator Insert, received it, and it would just slide all of the way over all of my 6MM bullets. Called customer service, they said throw it away and they sent me a second one. Same issue, it just slid over all of my 6MM bullets. Called customer service again. I asked them to please check the ID of a third comparator and make sure sure it does not slide completely over 6MM bullets. They said fine, they will do that. Sent me a third one , and sure enough it slid completely over the bullet. Bummer. Ordered a Hornady insert, which is aluminum, and not steel like Sinclairs. Fits the Sinclair holder. I prefer steel, so I waited a few months and ordered a 4th from Sinclair thinking they might have a new lot or corrected the problem. Same thing, slid all of the way over the bullets. Anyone else had this problem? Any Solutions.
Thanks, Tundra Bob

Are you saying the case mouth of a loaded round bumps the insides of the comparator and that is what stops its entering any further instead of it stopping somewhere on the ogive, or is it that all alone any 6mm projectile could pass completely through falling out the other side if nothing else was there to stop it?

It’s mentioned within the description that they are throated deep making alignment more as if in an actual chamber but because of this the things don’t work on stuff that is seated relatively short, like as in to magazine length. They suggest using the hex comparator for the shorter stuff.

Make no sense from this.

The tool is labeled 3-24. The hole is about .232" in diameter. What are you getting and using?

This should be the one to use:
.... except I believe the Sinclair model reads "24" rather than "3-24"

The 3-24 Hornady that I have works fine, but when using the Sinclair 6mm bullet comparator insert , the bullet slips all of the way thru. Tzed's explanation is what is happening to me with the Sinclair 6MM comparator.

My Sinclair Insert Style Bullet Comparator Insert 6MM is stamped with a 24 on the collar and works just fine on my 6MM bullets.

Just a wild guess - but perhaps it's worth a try.
The comparator insert looks identical to the bump gauge insert. I wonder if what you have in hand might be the bump gauge insert (which would explain why the bullet drops through the opening)

I have an old one from Sinclair that is stamped 24 and just bought another last week which is now stamped 6. No issues with either.
