Sinclair Generation II Front Rest?

I am getting more serious with rifle and I need a good quality front rest. I am thinking about a basic Sinclair Generation II without windage.

Rest to be used to learn how to shoot off a bench, sight in rifles, work up loads and hunt woodchucks.

Is anyone using one of these? - comments appreciated.

Many thanks,
Steve

If your just getting started and looking for something cheap and know someone who loads shotgun shells get some of their old shot bags and fill them with sand. Some of the new bags are no good as they won`t hold sand, but I shot off the old bags for a lot of years. Usually 2 under the forearm and 1 under the stock, but what ever it takes. If your in West Central Oh. I`ll give you a couple.

The Shade Tree is more than I need, but many thanks. Not quite sure what it needs to complete either, price??

Thanks for the offer of the shot bags, sad to say but I threw out over 30 cloth bags just a few years ago when I thought we were going to move, I am in NJ.

Steve: I upgraded to the generation 2 several years ago, with 2 windage tops. One for the 2 1/4" wide forends and the other for the 3". Very pleased with it. Has a few nice improvements over the older original front rest. At 17# it sits very stable on the benchtop, but weight is not excessive when having to move it around.

FD - Many thanks for getting back to me with your detailed comments, this is exactly the kind of material I needed to hear.

Best,
Steve
