Sinclair Competition Rest Base Plate - Aluminum?

We sold our very last Sinclair Competition base plate last weekend at Deep Creek. I need to make a decision on this product going forward. Here's a link to the current product.

In talking to several of our customers and potential customers, I got requests to make them out of aluminum. People like the wider footprint and other features, but would prefer not to have to lug around an extra 17 lbs. I've put a pencil to it and got prices on aluminum plate (it's expensive!). It looks like these would need to sell for about $150. Keeping the design the same, only switching to 1/2" 6061-T651, they would weigh 6#. I'd need to make about 32pcs to make it worthwhile/ get the price down to the $150 number.

So, I ask the precision shooting community, what says you?

I also received a request to make them for the SEB NEO and I've been kicking around the Farley idea for a while. If you are interested in either of these, let me know, as well.

I thought about that, too. Maybe a little, but even the steel ones would need to be about $130 if we made them again, as is. Add cut time for skeletonizing and we’re prob approaching the $150 mark.

A few reasons for this increase. 1st, I was committed to the pricing first time around before I knew how time consuming the thread chasing, wrapping & unwrapping would be after powder coat. 2nd, material has gone up about $.20/ LB since we made the steel ones...

I'd buy an Aluminum one. I could care less if it was powder coated or not to be honest. It could look like death as long as it works.

No. My courage/ status in the household is being questioned in effort to get me up to nationals next month. Turns out these northerners are pretty proficient at bustin balls, too.

I don't have access to a JJ, nor do I know how common the design is. If you could make a sketch with hole sizes and locations, I could lay them on the current design and see if that will work for you. Shoot me a PM with the details, maybe?
