Sinclair competition BR rest

My shade tree top, I cut the rod off to be even with the back leg of the rest and made a new 1/2-20 rear leg with a flat top about 2" round and knurled the edges. I only use it for windage but i can use it for elevation if i have too. This works very well for 1K....jim

It looks a little tight in the photo because I have the legs screwed all the way up to keep from poking holes in everything.

It would be nice to find a carrying case for it so I could leave it set up all the time. When the leg adjustments are screwed down, it works fine and there is plenty of room for the joystick to travel. One of the guys I shoot with bent his joystick for a little more clearance, but I don't see any reason to do it.

I know you are asking about the Sinclair but just for another option take a look at these, www.drgreenlawmachining.com
I just got the " E style" with the B style legs and I shot my personal best at a Match this past Saturday, 100 yard score. I picked up my score 9 points.Probably 8-9 guys using the Sinclair's and they all wanted to know where mine came from.

Good luck with what ever you choose.

Anybody have one?? Pro's and Con's...How do you like it?
Pacer56,
One of the best shooters I know and a member here uses a modified Sinclair comp rest, I know multiple others that use them, I didn't like the fact the windage pivoted instead of going side to side, I think the JJ would be a better choice myself, I bout a Ken Fulgham rest from Randolph Machine, it is top notch but I think you would be happy with the sinclair with some mods, from what I have seen johara1 was spot on.

Delaware _Ken -

I'm using a Pelican 1550 case with the pick-n-pluck. Stays put in transport.
I don't know though...............that dairy case really brought back memories.
Like - running to and from porches in college. Ha! Love it!

The case i use is small cheap packer case from Walmart. I cut and fit a 2x4 with holes drilled for the leg points to go in and a piece for the rear leg with a hole also. I then attached them with deck screws, i drilled and counter sunk holes from the bottom,The legs can be out 11/2" and won't hurt anything. The rest is together and the top of the rest has a 3"block i keep in it for shape and it contacts the lid of box so it can't move. The best part is it's water proof. The case is black with a gray top and red handles and i think they sell for about $25.00, They are tuff and cheap.........jim

Thanks,

I'll check out the cases at Walmart. $25, and a little work, sounds a lot better than $125. Those Pelican Cases are nice, but they are pricey. Tuff and cheap sounds good.

Certainly not to hijack the thread but, I used the older style Sinclair for a few years, I didn't care for the pivot windage so I bought a couple tops from Joe Cowan. I really liked the set up, but like a lot of others I wanted something different/nicer/faster. I ended up with the new SEB NEO, I was a little skeptical on a coaxial rest when I ordered it, but let me tell you, It is the nicest smoothest rest I ever tried. I'm not talking bad about any of the others on the market, there are a lot of nice rests available but I am very pleased with the purchase and will not be replacing it any time in the near future.

Very well written ;)

At 1K i only need a very small movement or at least i should if the gun tracks, it should stay in the box. I can see the Neo at score matches But at long range i don't know, maybe all that movement can get you on the wrong target in a bump of the joy stick. When you try to beat the condition in less than 30 seconds you can't do too much moving..... jim

Thanks bozo699....Anyone know what those (JJ) run?

Just received a JJ rest last week with both the 3" and 5" tops. $1025 plus $60 shipping. That was with a $75 discount, since all I wanted was a 5" top for my older JJ rest for which they don't make a 5" top since it was an older model and had the 1" shaft. New models have a 1.5" center shaft.

Came with an Edgewood 3" bag filled, but no bag for the 5" top. Extra tops are $225

Johara, I'll let you know how it works at 1K after Saturday. I never shot point blank, that's not why I bought it. I've done well with it at South Fork and plan on trying it this weekend at Williamsport and in two weeks at the world open. Like you mentioned, I have some reservations at 1K but don't expect any troubles, the rest works awesome, tracks awesome and is quick to get back on target if your tracking is off a little. You can adjust the tension very easily without any tools to eliminate unwanted travel. I just can't imagine it wont work well under any shooting conditions whether your discipline is Point Blank, Ground Hog Matches or 1K. If at anytime I'm at a match and someone wants to try it out just ask.
