Sinclair Comp Rest Sloppy Adjustment

I bought a Sinclair Comp rest from a forum member here a few months ago and am now just noticing a "sloppy" windage adjustment. When I move the adjustment either direction after it is set, it will continue going in the direction I last set it at then it will reverse and go the other direction if that makes any sense. I believe this is something that just started happening the last few times to the range, I am pretty sure it did not act like this when I purchased it. This is my first rest of this kind and would appreciate any input as what I should look for or should I just live with it. It really is not terrible but it is annoying and slows down windage adjustments. Thanks for any help.

There are a few things that you can try...

1 - try increasing the factory spring tension. There’s a set screw within the hex nut portion of the spring plunger assembly. Increasing the preload a little may help. While you’re at it, take it out, clean it up, put it back together. You’ll most likely be unimpressed with it’s diminutive size.
2 - replace the plastic plunger and windage screw contact point with the brass ones. I never can remember his username, but a gent on this forum makes them.
3 - try our tensioner.
