Sinclair Comp Rest Base Plates - Pre-Order Live

ARE WE THERE YET ?

There’s enough interest. It’s gonna happen. I’m awaiting the opportunity to shoot with mine and for feedback from the sample we sent out. I can’t imagine any problems but there may be some refinement ideas.

If you look at how he shaped the plate it positions the knobs very close. Its a great design, and I am a fan of dedicated tools. One size fits all would likely have short comings. Maybe if there is enough requests Travis will make them for others? I would bet theres a market for the Farley.

I would be one (hint) Travis)

Verily I request a deviation what’ll bolt up to Sinclair’s latest rendition of their “Heavy Varmint” cast iron base. The HV uses the same 1/2"-20 feet and Speed Screw thread size as their Competition base, and being’s with no base windage mechanism to accommodate, its manufacture would be that much less involved.

but not used in competition like the big rest..which is why he will have a market.

Getting to the range isn’t gonna happen this weekend, so I set up in my garage. These pics should help answer questions some have asked about bench space/ design. This one is 25” wide, set-up on the centerline stripe.

With this set-up (about 27-1/2” btwn the front and rear bag contact points), 1 full revolution of the Sinclair speed screw = about 11-1/2 MOA. It’s real easy to simultaneously twist the elevation with thumb and pointer finger and roll windage with your middle finger.

My Randolph needs some weight. It's 3" maybe from the left edge of the bench.
why have the weight stick out to the left so far?

Nice base, also nice Bench, can you PM me the details, who made it, pics of the legs system? thats one of the nicest shooting bench I've seen.

To keep the speed screw in the middle of the triangle created by the two front feet and the speed screw. If I kept everything centered and symmetrical, the distance between the windage and speed screw would get too large & slow you down. I think I’ll add another tapped hole or two in the production units for the guys that set up on the edge of the bench.

Thanks. I did the frame and legs (metal work) and the machining of the pockets on the top. A shooting buddy did the woodwork. It’s a butcher block top from Grizzly. We made two of them and there’s several things I’d do differently if I had it to do over again. It works well, though. It’s just extremely heavy & awkward. It would also be prohibitively expensive if we were to try to make them for sale.

Due to the multiple PMs and high interest level, we decided to bring the pre-order live. If you pre-order you'll be guaranteed to get in on the 1st production run. The downside, is that we charge your card immediately. I wish this weren't the case, but it's the way our website is coded. To make up for it, we're offering $14 off the standard price for pre-orders.

Note - based on input that I've received to date, the following changes will be made in the production units vs. the pics I have posted:
  • They will be powder coated flat black
  • I have added 2 more 1/2-20 holes up front for those that set up near the edge of the bench.
There may be more changes (improvements) based on user input. I'd like to keep that avenue open until March 4th & then I'll consider the design final. Obviously, if you choose to cancel for any reason, we'll reimburse your pre-order, no questions asked.

I kindly request that all pre-orders be placed thru our website at the link below. I can't keep up with multiple order streams/ PMs, and I can't process CC, PayPal, etc. It needs to be done over the site.

Thanks!
