Silver sold torch - recommend one

What do you guys find that works best For both small and bigger jobs ?

I know oxy / Acet works, but for smaller jobs ?

I was thinking about getting a small oxy/acet touch kit.. I have a small map kit right now that should work but for bigger parts it’s not going to be enough.

I can't imagine any silver solder job that would require anything more than this:

Oxy/Map is perfect for anything related to smithing including brazing of small parts. But for larger parts, yeah- Oxy/Acetylene.

Get yourself an Oxy/Acet kit like an HVAC guy uses. They silbraze all the time and you can control the size of the flame by the size of the tip. Much more precise heat control than than a turbo torch.
Don't know of a single AC tech using oxy/acet. Acetylene/Air all day if not using MapPro. True Mapp gas has been out of production for many years.

I do a small amount of silver soldering. I mostly solder brass fittings to copper tubes using a high temp solder. I just use a basic Victor 100 series oxy/acet torch. The one I have now is my second one. I had the first one long enough that the hoses and regulators rotted.

I had one , too expensive and small . Get a set of oxy act . I use smyth but have a set from harbor freight that is equal and less expensive.

^^^
Absolutely. Chews up the oxy tank in what seems like minutes. But it's compact and works for me because I rarely use it.

LOL I had one that I bought at a garage sale It came with a bunch of cylinders the guy said were full I tried to use it and the o2 cyls kept running out I thought the guy hosed me I bought some replacements only to find the go down quickly
I use Oxy Acet with a small torch

Yep - my further research is showing getting a small HVAC like brazing kit which goes around 300 bucks with empty bottles.

Smiths little torch oxy / acet is really cool - it’s what is used by jewlry smiths for silver soldering, but I may not put out enough heat for bigger items like bolt handles so the mall bottle HVAC setup is the optimal as most of you guys suggest.

I started watching craigslist but given a new kit is only 300-350 it’s really not worth waiting all that much.

I looked for years and looked at the smaller set-ups. Eventually stumbled on a big boy oxy/acet set on craigslist. Larger tanks last forever and are cheaper to fill/swap for what you get. Small tips for small jobs. Kinda like a lathe, hard to do larger stuff on a mini lathe, but easy to do small stuff on a large lathe.
