Silver coin collectors?

Off chance any on the board collect silver coins? As part of my mother's estate, I have somewhere at 50 Morgan silver dollars of all years from 1878 forward and peace dollars from the years they were manufactured. Also have over 150 silver eagles that are all new from all years.... Have no idea as to the value other than a spot silver price and I'm looking for a reputable dealer to give an assessment of the value...
Thanks,
Lee

I'm in the same boat as you. I have pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollars, but have not found nor has a reputable dealer ever been recommended.
Maybe the value exceeds what they want/would be willing to pay.

As far as Morgan's, date and mint are important. Carson City seems to be most collectable but I'm just an amature collector. If you have a 1921 peace dollar that is the first year and most collectable. Look for key dates. You can easy Google key dates and mint marks. If you happen to have any of those look into having them certified by NGC or PCGS. It's not worth having common coins graded. Also just a thought, there is noting wrong with keeping the common coins on hand just for the silver in case something happens to the dollar currency. I'm not a pepper or doomsday guy but silver is silver no matter what happens.

I golf with a guy who has been in the coin business for over 50 years. Silver dollars do not have one ounce of silver, I think he told me .7. Where are you located?

I didn't look in my library, but I believe this is the book that I have (mine is a much older edition). Although it lists market values, it won't give you a true current price to sell at since that can and does change with time and the market. It will give you a rough idea of condition and collect ability value per mint production. If you have anything in your collection that stands out in the book, then you'll have a decent starting point to contact a buyer.

Collected coins when I was a kid. Date and mint are the starting point but condition is the final determination of numismatic value.

Take the real silver ones to a coin dealer. Some are worth money others are worth their weight. From past experience, selling silver and all the fees involved makes you realize metals are just a pain in the ass. Let us know how it turns out.

Will do. Like you said, selling metal is a pain in the ass, especially when it's value isn't based on weight, it's a myriad of things... year, stampings, what mint, condition, circulation yada yada yada...

The silver eagles carry spot buy price plus 2-3% max depending on condition. And the Morgan’s will vary widely based on the year, condition and where they were minted. I collect a lot of coins and I’d likely be interested in buying some of them. Let’s talk.

Also, Morgan’s can literally be valued at anywhere from as low as $30 to over $20K depending on what you have. Don’t clean the coins in any way and do your research on the range of value of each coin based on its condition, then find a local collector to assess them with you in person.

90% silver from 1878-1904 and 1921

I would pay more than spot plus 2-3% for the Eagles.
