Silencerco hybrid 46 and 46m

To those that have or have had real world experience of silencerco hybrid 46 or 46m. Thoughts, pros, cons. Thanks.
Use will be 9mm pc9 and Ar in 223.

Don’t recommend for .223 unless you also buy the spacer and adapter. It operates with a piston/spring assembly for pistol calibers.
Buy a dedicated .223, or at the very least a Banish .30 cal direct thread with adapters for your AR.

I bought it for my 45cal smokeless muzzleloader but with adapters there is no problems using it for different riffles. I haven’t used it yet on pistol cals. I like the concept no problems

I had a few problems with mine. But it works. With that said, I wouldn't buy another one. I bought it initially thinking I might use it on a 1911, and multiple rifles. But I didn't feel like gunking the insides with pistol debris and having to attempt to clean it somehow. The outside housing came loose and they told me to just Locktite it back together. If you plan on using a quick attach mount, do your research and use something other than the Silencerco ASR mount. Mine failed and it turns out that is a common problem with ASR.

I would recommend that you buy a user serviceable suppressor for your 9mm and a Thunderbeast for your 223/556. I wish I had bought Thunderbeast in the beginning personally.

The shorty suppressors don't make the AR stuff quiet enough for me. I have a Rugged Razor I bought on a whim, and it's not quite enough to me and their dual taper lock quick attach can also be a pain unless you secure your muzzle device with locktite and keep it lubed up.

I swap suppressors a lot, thus my trials with quick attach. But I think I will stick with direct thread in the future.

I run a hybrid 46 daily and LOVE it! I direct thread everything and couldn’t be happier. It’s just as quiet as guys next to me with other brands and you will not notice the 46 caliber being any louder than dedicated caliber cans. In fact, the 46 caliber works great to AR’s because the larger bore helps to reduce back pressure inside the gas system. It works awesome on 9mm pcc’s! I shoot it on one daily. It’s a very well rounded can. Only downfall is it’s not serviceable but there are plenty of products on the market to clean them. I have thousands of rounds on mine and haven’t needed to clean it yet. But the time is coming. I’m going to try ballistol suppressor cleaner. Everyone that has experienced my hyb 46 is buying one for themselves, so you know what they say about imitation ;)

I am learning here, thanks for the replies to this thread guys.
I plan to direct thread.
I am hearing 9mm is dirty, I knew rimfire was dirty but wasn’t aware pistol calibers were.
Guys like ones that are serviceable better which I can understand. Keep teaching guys. Thanks

Do you think the 46M model is worth the extra money? Thanks

If you desire the capability for other large caliber and or Magnum rifles, buy once, cry once.;).
As for unburned powder residue, using propellants such as TiteGroup for both super and subsonic pistol ammunition really reduces the build up.
TTFreestyle is right about the Ballistol cleaning process.

Sold many Hybrids. Customers love them. Skip the 46M model in my opinion. Most clients don't shorten theirs as it only gets louder. 46M model uses the "Charlie" mount system while the regular 46 uses the popular "Bravo/HUB" dimensions. They now sell the 46 as DT (direct thread) and eliminated shipping with the ASR mount and brake which brings the MSRP down to $699.

I would not personally spend more money to be able to make my suppressor shorter by removing the front 2 inches (46M) and the 46M comes with a modular mount designed for QD attachments. You'll need to buy a direct thread mount if that's the method you'd prefer. The hyb 46 can be used with those QD mounts but only comes with the direct thread mount out of the box.

Edit: I shoot a ton of suppressed 9mm. I've played with a bunch of different combos to try and cut down of unburnt powder that accumulates in the lower when running suppressed. My #1 combo right now is 160 gn bullets with 2.8 grains of CFE Pistol powder. I can run hundreds of rounds before started to see any powder residue.
