Anyone using Labradar for pistol?

Just got a new unit and am having problems getting the unit to trigger with my G34 and PC9.

I can get the G34 to do it if I have the muzzle all but behind the unit. This is already getting powder on the front of it.

Can’t get the PC9 to trigger it at all.

If I go into Doppler mode, everything is getting picked up. Manual says I shouldn’t have to do this.

Sensitivity is set to1 and the velocity range is set for hand gun.

Any actual experience you can share will be appreciated.

Thanks

I haven't had any problems. I do have to put the muzzle even with the side of the unit and about 8-10 away, but it seems to trigger every time. I was worried about the muzzle blast as well, but it hasn't been a problem yet. I have shot this with several pistols and revolvers in calibers from 327 Federal to 44 magnum.

Yep, hoping to try again before sunset with exactly 8 inches of offset.

Seems to be an issue offset front to back vs side to side but yesterday was only the second time I’ve used it. I’m hoping it’s operator headspace and timing.

I have a friend in ammo mfg, he uses one, the left side of his LR has quite a bit powder burn on it.

Ok.... this seems to be too much to me but maybe I need to level set my expectations. I had just cleaned this up today so this is from a total of 37 9mm rounds.

Concerning distance from the unit. I have to have my bore no more than 2 inches (level with the vertical line that divides the front and back half of the unit). I’ve tried incremental increases from almost touching to 12 inches, adjusting the off set. All are settings are as instructed in the manual.

I’ve called Labradar but unfortunately they are all at the SHOT show until the 26th....

On the other hand, the velocities I’m getting are what I expect to be seeing, both in “trigger” and “Doppler” mode.

Mine works fine outside, but there are times in the indoor range when there are issues. Talking to them, they do not suggest shooting through a tunnel or other tighly enclosed spaces. With revolvers I take some light Teflon fabric onto the side of the unit.

His was quite a bit blacker, I need to uncase mine and look too, I've chrono'd my share of 9mm from a pcc with brakes.
I think these units are sound activated, am I wrong?
Mine clean, I think I was 1" behind, I got this unit cheap, trade for magneto, guy had rough time getting readings running suppressed rifles. Need to be in front of it.

Can be problematic with Rim Fire also unless you get the external mic kit. That is why having a conventional chrono is also good.

Update, sent the unit back. The packing around the internal microphones was “excessive” according to Tom and Richard at TCK. They fixed it up and I had it back within a week of sending it out.

Test fired a run of the mill AR across it this evening and no issues trigger the unit as advertised up to 18 inches.

Excited for a range day tomorrow!!
