sights for bolt gun in AICS 1.5

having the barrel on a Rem 700 in 6.5x47 turned down to .750 at mzl for sight base,,the cheek piece is high on the AI Chassis and wonder if anybody uses the adjustable height front sight base and rear base that goes on a flattop AR for using a Redfield Palma rear and Olympic front on rifle in AI chassis,,,will it be too high?? they have front bases that would put the sights down on the gun but not sure they may be too low,,I had to get extra high rings to use scope with AI 1.5 as the cheek piece is high to me in its lowest position,,

would like to play around smacking some steel from prone and sitting with a sling ,,just for fun,,

using this rear base for the Palma sight how high could you mount the front sight??

Modify your cheek piece so that it works for you. Make a wooden one so that you can whittle away at it so that your eye lines up with the sights (iron or scope) without canting the rifle or leaning your head.
There are three front sight heights available - conventional (lowest to bore), Tube gun and AR (highest). If you do not change your cheek piece it sounds as if Tube height would work for you.
The Lipski base is great. Know that the side plate is height adjustable (even upside down).
Seriously consider adjustable iris' for both sights - makes a world of difference in varying light conditions. A front lens of 0.3 out to 600 yds. and 0.5 for long range will make for easier targeting. When your eyes get older an additional +.25 in the rear gives you a well focused front sight and much clearer target image as well.
Now! Handstops! There is your next great adventure! Not to mention half a dozen slings to try, gloves galore...

I have a PNW rear with Gehman 510 and Anschutz front on my smallbore with Anschutz handstop and palm rest and sling ,,my rear is adjustable from .5-3.0 ,,I might use the PNW but the iris will work in the Palma also,,I think I have everything I need except the front base,,I have a pretty good size box of sight parts,,Kimber 82G front globe and bunches of steel and clear inserts and Anschutz 1.8-4.4 adjustable front,,

hopefully I can just bang the gongs at 600 and maybe 1,000 with some practice ,,sounds like fun at least,,

It is a great challenge that becomes addicting. Once you are comfortable you will be amazed at how well one can shoot with target sights.

100 yard smallbore BR for score

CZ 455 Lilja .900 no taper EPS chamber,,PNW sight Gehmann aperture,,Kimber Globe Anschutz iris,,RWS R50 ammo

200/19X 100 yards

The advice from MTM is good. If you want to shoot with us XTC on the full 600yd. ranges adding a picatiny rail to your action and installing Lipski base along with a ladder front sight will allow you plenty of elevation to shoot out to 1000yds.

got rifle back and gonna try and get correct front sight base Monday and see how it goes,,notice how high the comb is and the wat the scope is mounted is too low,,not sure which height bases I will need but the guys at CC always let me put sights on and see if they fit me before buying,,they are really good people,

got everything together,,used a different rear base but it works real well,,have plenty adjustments to do anything at any range,,got on 30 inch plate at 1,000 on 2nd shot and dead centered on 3rd shot,,after that it was a cant miss,,really fun shooting
