Hard to say if it's a Sightron issue or not. Personally I believe it's an Optics planet issue. Sounds like it came from O.P. as a used or demo scope. Not something Sightron would be responsible for if damaged. If it wasn't wrapped and sealed in the factory box, it was removed by the dealer in which case, they knew what issues the scope had. All this said, Sightron MAY replace it if explained to them your experience. The question of whether or not getting a full refund and buying a NF, is a different issue and more expensive one as well.
You'll be making a big mistake dropping Sightron from your scope line. They make fine scopes and at half the cost of others not nearly as good. Especially from one experience that I don't believe is a Sightron issue.
They are surprisingly nice for the price, and the new zero stop is pretty slick.
I wouldn't worry bout how it happened. I'd just get another Sightron. I'd have to say the general
consensus is that they are the best quality scopes for the money.
Yes it does have that adjustment on the left side of turret. Mine is the #25173 model.I looked at the new zero stop model briefly, I didn't see that it has a parallax adjustment? Is that correct or did I miss something?
Well that was the other weird thing. It didn't actually come from optics planet. I purchased it through OP but it shipped from some other place I don't remember the name of. Bills or Bobs outdoors or something like that. I asked OP about it and they just said they had stock their they could pick from or something like that. Sightron said I could send it for review, their dime, but OP said they would take it back, send the less expensive non-IR model and refund difference, still give me the 12% discount I got when I bought the first one and send me a sunshade with some promotion. So OP is making it right. I just have to wait another week or two to get it all ironed out. The whole thing is just frustrating and Sightron didn't exactly wow me with their customer service. They never even gave any kind of apology or even a "man that sucks". Their fault or not they should care their product was delivered broken and address it. I spent a bunch of time getting this worked out and sending it back, bringing it to a fed ex location, which is like a 25 minute drive from my house. I'm probably being to hard on them but I have worked in customer service and had lots of training in it, and they failed as far as customer service goes, even the most basic principles.
I own a few and some are STACs. STACs are really tough to beat for the money. Half the price of most SIIIs and I wouldn't say any less clear and they definitely track as well. They hit a home run with the S-TAC line. Some guys here mentioned the reticle options being few but I prefer the MOA II reticles.Hard to argue with you. My s-tac has been great and I really haven't heard any stories like mine. I'm really hoping I don't have any issues with the next one. I'm sure once I get the new one i'll like it and not be disappointed, and probably buy another one someday if it fits what I need. They are priced well and seem to have nice glass.
That's pretty much what I have read. I guess I just drew the short straw on the first one.
I don't see how you can bash Sightron, you didn't give them a chance to look at it or tell you what they would do about it.
