Sightron SIII 8-32X56 & Warne Tactical QR Rings

AR Shooter

Silver $$ Contributor
Just put this rig on my tubegun and sighted-in this morning. Replaced a 6-20X40 Leupold, which is a fine scope, but not up to the task of shooting at 600/1000yd.

Went with the MOA-2 reticle and the sight picture is excellent. Hash-marks are at 3moa, which is just what I wanted. First mounted with a set of the Burris Xtreme rings, but were too tall and only thing I could find locally were the Warne. Having mounted both, find I prefer the Warne QR rings. Very nice.

As for the SIII, very clear and crisp. Started the day before the sun was above the treeline on my right and no problem seeing in the shadows. View only became better as the sun came up and got more light. The clicks on both the elevation and windage were sharp and positive. As I worked my way up per the numbers from my ballistic chart at 300yd before moving to 600yd the 4-clicks were right on with a 3" move of the POI. Nice.

As others have mentioned, the focus adjustment is pretty coarse and would be nice is it were about 1/2 as fast as it is. However, I had no problem getting it to focus at 50, 100, 300 & 600yd.

Am very pleased with the scope and the rings. My only disappointment was that it is made in Japan. For some reason it was in my mind that the glass was Japanese (like Leupold & Nightforce) and the rest was made in the USA. However, the scope is marked 'Made in Japan'.

Overall, highly recommended out to 600yd. Will report on 1000yd once I've shot at that distance.
