I will have CADDIES contact you...........I have one of the sightron SV 10-50x60 scopes that doesn't have the ED glass.
How does the glass on the new Sightron S6 10-60X56 compare to my older model ?
That my man is called, Opportunity.I have the S111 10-50x60 and 2 of the SV 10-50x60. I could be wrong, but I thought all of the SV's have ED glass. For my eyes the added cost of the SV is worth the investment over the S111. The S3 is a good scope for 22lr benchrest with the SV being a great scope.
I have looked through the S6 and the ED glass seemed to me to be on par with the SV. What I didn't care for on the S6, the cross hairs were too thick for my needs. Sightron has the new S6 option with fine dot/crosshairs that I am very interested in. Only problem I would have to by a new gun to put it on.
I shoot both these scopes. The Sightron is brighter and clearer plus the Dual knob focus is far superior to all others. BUT, that 5 extra power on the comp is really appreciated seeing 6mm holes at 400 and 500 yards. Make that Sightron a 55x and its a clear winner. If you're talking about the SV10-50x60ED I don't feel it gives up anything. Actually, I feel with the SV fine parallax adjustment and 34mm tube, which the Nightforce comp does not have, puts it ahead of the comp. We have done side by side bench comparisons with the SV and NF comp. That is just my opinion so don't beat me up NF guys. Your gang is much bigger.
Lance is the go-to for us also.
Just a side note. If looking for weight reduction, the 45x45 ED for 100-200-300yd varmint class is amazing.
I was actually referring to the S6 but good to know there's an alternative to the NF too. I see the SV only seens to have one plain cross hair reticle though? If you're talking about the SV10-50x60ED I don't feel it gives up anything. On these two you shown the bottom one (S6) is a grand$ cheaper, how do they compare for that price difference?![]()

S6 10-60x56 EDBench Rest
Sightron's latest Bench Rest competition riflescope with ED glass elements for 55% more resolution than the industry standard S3 Model. Max magnification of 60x and a close range parallax correction of 9 yards.sightron.com
That is incorrect information. The March Majestas use Super-ED glass, not ED glass. Huge difference. ED glass uses some rare earth elements to control CA. The Abbe number for that type of glass is around 80.The SV with ED Glass (on Barnard 6 dasher)better in mirage than my first SV without ED Glass (on Barnard 223rem). The S6 is supposed to have 2 ED glass lenses. The top shooters at F Class Nationals in Lodi last year were running their March Majesta scopes with 2ED lenses@ 80x. I ran my SV with ED lens @50x. Some of my teammates ran their non SV scopes @36× in the heavy mirage. Love Sightron SV scopes. LanceXXX is our ISRA F Class Rifle team go to dealer for Sightron.
I have both the SVED and though not the BR model a S6 with the MH reticle I prefer the SVED because of the fine parallax adjustment and reticle. the S6 for the price point is worth the money over the SIII standard glass is it better than the SVED? with my eyes I can't really say one is better over the other, but the S6 does have a very sensitive parallax adjustment once set it is fine but if you change distance then it does get tricky to get back to the same point. On these two you shown the bottom one (S6) is a grand$ cheaper, how do they compare for that price difference?
