Sightron S-6 10-60X -56mm

During heavy mirage I only go down to 40-45. I can’t see anything at 1000 yds below that magnification. You learn to deal with mirage after a while. I am comfortable shooting thru mirage at high mag. Sight picture with mirage is decent but does not compare to March for example…

I've always noticed with any equipment, if it isn't good users let it known. I've even seen how thing that are good, there always those that whine about something, even if the whining is meaningless! Things like, I wish it had more power, the finish is not what I expected, it's great glass but wish it was smaller, the zoom ring turns farther than I like.

I mean the fact is when something is works as it should, most don't take time to post it works, but everyone post when it doesn't. The fact there isn't any whining about this scope I would think it is a very good choice. I have had several Sightron scopes, every one 6-24x, 8-32x, 10-50x, 42x, and never one problem with any, and all with glass as good as any scope costing 100's more.

I would have no issue going with this scope if it fit the purpose I was going to use it for.
In my worthless personal opinion the 4-16 Sightron with fine crosshairs and target dot is really good. I can't justify spending as much or more than the rifle it's to be mounted on.

That floating target dot (66011) , illuminated, is the one I would love to hear your experiences with! Can’t find the exact dot size at which magnification, didn’t see it on their site either. They list it as moa ftd…

I was shooting a couple rifles late afternoon a few days ago it was overcast had my sightron sv 10x50 out and my march high master zoom 40x60 the SV was a little dark on 43x where the march was perfect but when it's sunny out the SV is beautiful where the March is not so much could have been me also tired

I think it does as well under mirage as my Nightforce comp. Not as good as the March, though. So far, I only had to go down to 45-50 under mirage, but of course that depends on your eyes and the severity of the mirage. If weight is not an issue, I would buy another...

You bring up a great observation when comparing scopes/spotting scopes. No one scope is the best under every condition. Just as everyone's eyes are not the same.

I just put one with the fine cross hair and floating dot on my 6 dasher. I shoot at 600 yards and it is working very well. The ED glass cuts the mirage quite a bit. The parallax adjustment has a wide range and is a lot easier to adjust than my SIII. All in all, I am very satisfied. I haven't used it at 1000 yds yet, but I'm hoping it performs just as well as it does at 600.

I have 2 of them on rifles I use for 22 BR and F Class. Mine are the MOA 2 reticle I think. Great glass for the money. Dot size has not been an issue for me. I have to dial back to 40-45 power at 100 sometimes because of mirage but can usually see pretty well thru them. I’m thinking about getting another. Would love to try a March but just can’t part with the money for the games I play.

I just received my 66011. It is mounted on my Nitro UL rifle. I just had Cataract surgery and I’m scheduled for another, so it will be a while. I bore sighted it at home and I think it is going to be great. First illuminated scope I’ve owned, not sure I’ll use it on the bench. The reticle is great.

Hope they get you straightened out, good luck!

That could be difficult...maybe a Majesta
Yes, for some of us, that would require a Zeiss Hensoldt
Maybe we can just say at least $3k for good glass and call it good since at that point you're not really lacking anything in any department of glass quality.
I know I have been able to tell a difference from $2k Glass and $3k Glass
Even though $2k Glass is goooooood
it's not $3k Glass right?
---
Glass is getting much better for cheaper though I have noticed that.
Maybe in a few more years... a $1k Scope wont be able to tell the difference from a $3k Scope.
Maybe they have found new cheaper ways of making good coatings? I dunno
I just know that 10 years ago, $3k Glass blew any Leupold out of the water
A $3k Kahles - blew a $2K Steiner out of the water etc. even though a Steiner is good
Nowadays - An Arken EP5 impresses the heck out of me for $500

Things have changed a lil bit over the years, such as a US Optics is not what it used to be ...
...and seem to carry with their famous name.
While NightForce started outdoing tried and true Unertl's and have held their standards.
I looked through a NF 8-32x when they first came out and compared it side by side to a 24x Unertl
The differences were very slight but the NF had every bit the clarity but seemed to be brighter inside the eye box. So was easier and more forgiving to use on High Power for bench work.
Low light performance is a big factor many people don't take into account though
or even test before choosing a certain quality optic
They see how good it is under perfect light conditions then plunk down their dough.
I know this is one particular area where a Kahles just freakin shines.
Its almost like having night vision if there is a full moon out
