Sighting in at short range for long range targets.

Can someone just check out my thinking - I will be shooting at 200yds in the morning and 1000yds in the afternoon.

Given that I will be shooting 6.5 (.264) SMK 140gn (BC about .524) bullets at about 2840 fps, with a scope height of 1.8 inches.

Shooting at 200 yds with the scope set for 1000yds I should expect the bullet to strike 60 inches high not taking into account the bits and bob's

Any any thought on that would be appreciated.

That's how we zero for 600. Our range is only 200 and we travel to shoot 600. We enter our info into JBM and get the come up. Then we shoot and measure until we have it right. We have always been on paper for the first shot.

Worked perfectly - Bullet strike zerroed at 59 inches above aiming mark at two hundred yards then first sighting shot into the scoring rings on the 1000yd F-Class target. - Ballistic data was taken from the free "Strelok" android app.

Always record your come-ups and wx conditions and you'll know exactly where to go over time.

Recording your ccb shot is also recommended. How else will you know your rifle?
