Sig Kilo2400?

So.... after reading the new edition of AB Modern Advancements book I am interested in the new Sig Kilo2400 LRF. Even more so after seeing that there is a ballistics engine built into it. Not sure if anyone can answer this or not since the unit is not on the market yet but will it give you MOA drop numbers to dial as the G7 BR2 LRF does? If so, im very very interested in it and may have to wait on getting a LRF. Does anyone know if AB was involved in the development of the Kilo2400 or if they just used the the same calculator that AB does? This thing looks like it could be one hell of a package. Thanks for any info anyone has.

Happy shooting

Well, i was just about ready to pull the trigger on a G7 BR2 but i think i might have to wait on that if this has AB in it.

How do you like your 2000? Is it a pretty good rangefinder for game?

Any updates on these? I'm mostly interested to know if it will output an MOA correction right in the view screen like the G7 BR2 does.

Maybe Doc knows?

Happy shooting.

I have sent emails to both Sig and AB looking for more info and release dates, sig said they built the first 100 units in house and would be shipping those out to dealers soon. This was almost two weeks ago. Nothing from AB. Heck, I even asked if I could prebuy or be put on a list. Sadly, no response to that question from either.

I'm very excited about the KILO 2400. One is on its way to me for testing and evaluation. Stay tuned...

In the mean time there is an active thread over at LRH with lots of good info - HERE.

They will sell for $1499.99 and will hopefully start shipping in mid to late January.

In case anyone's interested, we just started taking Pre-Orders for the Sig KILO 2400 AB Ballistic Rangefinder at the Long Range Hunting Store - Go here for more info or to place a Pre-Order. I'm personally most excited about: Using my phone to enter and edit my ballistic profiles that I then send to the KILO 2400. A big improvement over the G7 BR2. The small size. The inclusion of coriolis and spin drift in the solution in addition to the atmospherics.

Ive been waiting on this unit for a long time

From what I read in the past, it said they were going to incorporate in a 1/4-20 insert on the unit for a tripod mount. Doesn't look like that happened :(. Kind of ridiculous to have to buy and pack around that extra mounting adapter to use it on a tripod.

I'm definitely not gonna buy right away at $1499. Will wait for a sale after they get out on the market more. The Kilo 2000 could be found from time to time with around a 30% discount during sales. A similar discount during a sale would put this new unit around $1000-$1100. My Leica 1600 will have to do until then.

I suspect their actual price will soon come down to about 1 just like the Kilo 2k did. Love my 2k but need to see the difference to put up more money.

What a ridiculous price point just to add ballistic capabilities to the range finder. This will definitely slow down sales of a product that could own the market at the right price. This could have really put the pressure on Leica to up their product line if priced fairly close to the Leica. Only the most serious of shooters/hunters will drop the coin to purchase one at this price point. Hopefully the street price will drop due to dismal sales. Why anybody would preorder at full retail is beyond me. :rolleyes:o_OJust my personal opinion.;)

I feel it's a good price for what it does and what is included. If you look at the G7 price and what this does verses the G7. It is cheaper and out ranges it. Then you have the Vextronics Terrapin which is just a rangefinder and sold for 2,000. If it does as advertised it will be a good sell. I have already read reviews of guys that had them for a year now. Their review is pretty good. By the way it is made also without the ballistic program. The tighter beam divergence and the better ranging capabilities over the Sig 2000 makes it worth more. Also all I saw was suggested retail. The selling price could be substantially less. Matt

Matt,

Just my personal opinion, but I feel the G7 is way over priced as well. Way to big of a beam to be of use for anything other than big game hunting. If the Sig came in at say 899.00 or so they could
literally own the market. This would make Leica up there game as well. A win win in my book. Hoping I will be pleasantly surprised at the street price for the Sig.:D:D

The reviews I had read were pretty good. There were about 3 or 4 guys using them for quite awhile now. I think to have a wind meter, altimeter, barometer, thermometer and the computer program it is a good value. I believe the price will hold steady for a little while until sales fall some. That is usually the way it is with all new stuff. Hopefully it will be a decent price. I believe that it will put other companies back to work to develope better ones. I heard the program is top notch and works better then others. I have seen prices but just the suggested retail. I guess time will tell. Some companies are already taking orders and they are supposed to be out in a couple of weeks.

Your right they need to be able to pinpoint game. My buddies went out west a few years ago to hunt antelope. Most of them had Swarovski rangefinders. They did not do a good job of ranging animals on the flat land with all the bushes. They kept getting different ranges every time they ranged. Matt

I would rather not have all the ballistics mumbo jumbo, especially if it can be had at a cheaper price point. My Leica 1600 has all that junk and I never use it. I've shot and killed animals ever since compact LRFs started getting around the hunting and shooting world with using nothing but the range's they gave me. I don't even pay attention to the angle correction ranges. Hunted in the mountains long enough to know where to aim on angled shots.

All I want from the new Kilo is the 2400 yard capability in a nice compact unit and the added option of target priority ranging that I really wish my Leica had. The rest will either be a bonus or useless to me. Just have to see which features I find useful.

I agree, especially after having the Sig Kilo 2000. It's all anyone needs however there will be many purchased just because having newer and better is the trend. The weather flow wind meter is a 35-40.00 item if purchased alone. Neat little device plugs into a cell phone headphone jack plug for reading wind. I think too that the 2400 price point is 30% above what it should be. 349.00 for the 2000 and 1500 for the 2400. I won't be upgrading.
