Sierra's new website

Don't much like their new site either. I also believe ,if I read their site correctly, that they have discontinued their 117 gr 25 cal pro hunter bullet. Sad, I use to use that bullet a lot.
I hope not. I was going to give those a try when Bob gets here.

It's just different. The old site had every bullet they make in one list. The new site breaks it down into groups. Once you understand the navigation it's fine.

I hate websites that you have to meander through to get what you are after. For instance, from the Sierra homepage, click on "Handgun bullets". That takes me to a page with featured products and every thing else. So, I have to click on "handgun bullets" again. That takes me to their page that is a wordy overview of their handgun bullets. Now, I have to click on "explore our handgun bullets". Whew, finally made it to the page that actually has their handgun bullets on it.

I don't need a history lesson on handgun bullets or need to see a page dedicated to your newest products. I just want to look at your selection of handgun bullets. Either get rid of the extra pages or have a link that takes me directly to where I want to go. Gunbroker is changing their user dashboard (my gunbroker) in the same fashion. It is becoming less intuitive and requires clicking through multiple pages to see/do things that you used to be able to do from a singe, useful page. New is not always better.

The marketing experts want you to look at as much stuff as possible. Same reason the milk and bread are on the opposite corners of chain grocery stores.

This marketing plan may work for some but all it does is make me not want the product. I swear on all that is holly i will never buy a product that is pitched while interrupting my youtube experience. I don't mind the site and it is more driven at people who are new or don't know exactly what they are looking for. Long time reloaders who just want a list will be unhappy at the additional time it takes to get to that data.

Is Sierra bullets independent or are they now a subsidiary of a bigger corporation that buys and soaks anything it can but stock in ?

Agreed, it may not make me stop buying Sierra product, but it will definitely drive me to not use their website to research info on the product. I'll find another means that is more convenient and informative.

Is it really that bad...?

Yeah it really is. Before all I had to do was look up to the right, pick a caliber, and see all the bullet offerings. Now you have to find out how to find out how to do that....not good.

Providing feedback on issues like this is a mixed bag. You get some people/businesses that are very receptive to suggestions and criticism. Many times you just get a puff of smoke up your... I take the time to write suggestions or complain about site changes or improvements and end up receiving a canned statement that says thanks for the feedback. The statement doesn't address any of the issues I discussed or wrote about. Gunbroker's response to my feedback was basically, "thanks, but you'll have to get used to it because it's what were going with.". They didn't address any of the specific problems I mentioned or ways that the "improved" version had actually made things more cumbersome. I figure that they sometimes they don't want to make adjustments because they are already committed and in the short term it will cost them a little money/time to make things right and actually improve them. That said, change is inevitable and you can't make everyone happy.

I got on their "NEW" site and after messing around for about 15 -20 minutes figured out the new stuff. It is OK just newly formatted. I use and continue to buy many of their products.
