Just ordered the new 6mm 95gr tipped smk, been shooting 95gr smk hpbt, G1 490 hpbt 95, G1 500 on tipped 95 should shoot better? Also going to try 6mm 107 smk, anybody have history with these bullets? Varget powder or H4831sc my choice of powders?

You did not specify a cartridge but I had excellent results with the 107s in a .243 match rifle at 1000yds.. My best scores ever were with that barrel. As far as tipped vs. closed meplat, do an extended range test and let us all know the results. 300 yds. or longer would be most helpful.

I hope you have a fast twist. The 107`s will need an 8 twist min. and I would guess at least a 9 for the 95`s. I have also heard that the tipped bullets deform and are not accurate past 300 yards, not just Serria, but most. I have had no luck at all with the 107`s, but have juster started breaking in a new 6-284 with an 8 twist and I have a 6 - 300 WSM with a 7 twist I want to try them in.

It is a 1/7 twist 3 grove pac nor 28 in 243 win modified howa. I also coat my bullets with HBN

107 SMK's with 29>31.4 gr Varget & 8 twist barrel seated 15 thou off the lands works for me. In 6BR

I shoot 1-7" twist in a 22/250 using 90 gr. Sierra HPBT and it's a hammer all the way to 1000 yards!

Been using the original 95 gr smk since it was released. 243 Win, factory 1 in 9.125 barrel. H4350 and IMR 4350 does great. Tried slower powders with zero success. I regret wasting my time and bullets in doing so.

I vote H-4831/H-4831sc in the 243 pushing 90gr and heavier bullets. Forget Varget for the 95grainers. Depending on Lot# and seating depth among other things, 45-46gr of H-4831 will be around max charge weight pushing 95gr in the 243.

I reached a safe max of 48gr pushing 90gr Berger bthp,
and 45.5gr max pushing 105amax. Both were seated to kiss the rifling.
Work up as usual, be safe !

What is an a drain? I know a guy that accidentally misspelled his name on Facebook to Adrain instead of Adrian and couldn't change it. Just wondering if that was the case here? (Kinda off topic)
