Sierra BlitzKing seating depth

he y'all, i recently just started shooting 6mm 55gr Sierra Blitzkings in my 14 twist Shilen 6BR. i don't have much experience shooting the Sierra BlitzKing design, so i am looking for seating depth info.

being a tangent ogive design, i know it's jump tolerant. i have been shooting them .015" to .020" off the lands. LT-32 powder looks very good, along with H322. i think i can get them to shoot even better than they have been, maybe seating depth is the next step

is there any particular jump or jam that this design seems to favor?

any help appreciated

Don't know if Sierra is open or not but call their tech line and see if they can offer any suggestions.
I can't help you with 6mm as my rifles are 1-7 and 1-8 twist but I shoot them in .224 diameter and really like the accuracy and explosive effects the Blitzking provides.

My 6BR likes the 55BK very much. The barrel is a Hart 24"/14twist with 0 freebore. Even with 0 freebore, seated to the lands that bullet only comes slightly less than 1/2way down the neck. Preferred load is a 55BK with 7-1/2 primer, and AA2230 powder which is just magic and made the gun come alive. The working is 35.5gr 2230 / 7-1/2BR / 55BK doing 3919, that's cooking right along. On paper, something I only do to find a load, it shot .120".

Bullets are seated .005" off the lands, I don't jump them. Works beautifully.

I am touching the lands or a slight jam, shoot about the same load as Ackman, 3900 with .750-1.5" groups at 300 yards, 27",12"T barrel.

Standard load for 20 + years has been H335, 7 1/2, 60g Sierra at 3700 fps out of a 24" barrel, very, very long barrel life, and twice the round count in between cleaings compared to H322.

58g V max is a flat base, has more bullet contact in the neck vs Vmax or ballistic tip.

65g V max with H335 or AA2230 does 3650+ with groups in the 2's, again tremendous barrel life with long shot strings in between cleanings.

Don't be surprised if you shoot some of the smallest groups you have ever shot in your life with the 60g Sierra, H335 with Rem 7 1/2 primers!

Next batch of loads I'll have to try seating out further. Never tried it.

Without exception, I have always gotten my absolute best accuracy when the bullets are seated from .007 to .009 into the lands. This holds true for all cartridges, calibers and bullets used.

Having made the above statement, I however do NOT shoot any of the long VLD bullets.

I shoot 25 cal, 90gr BlitzKings.
My go to coyote bullet!
I'm running 0.020" off the lands for best accuracy from 2 different rifles out to 500 yards.

I’ve been jamming 55 SBKs .010” with H322 for fire forming loads in my 0 freebore 12 Twist 6 BRA. I’ve shot lots of 2s and 3s with this load which is above my skill level.

I agree, maybe a little less jam, but I always jam bullets.
In my 6BR, the VLD 105 Berger hybrid shoots best when jammed .010
