Sierra 85gr HPBT Gameking and Hodgdon 100v

I was on Hodgdons data center getting ready to start this load out new since Ive never used this powder before. Oddly enough they only list one type of bullet under the 85gr weight. 85 GR. BAR XBTC

Seeing that I am a fairly new reloader and have only done recipes given to me from load data books,i.e. lymans), would I just use my sierras in the same load data as the XBTC's and then start at the minimum and work my way up from there? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have found in 6mm and 7mm that Barnes TTSX bullets give higher velocity but also higher pressure with the same powder charge compared to the same weight in a conventional bullet. I back off a grain of powder with the TTSX.

Hmm so i should be ok starting off for the minimum for ttsx's or actually bump it up a grain to start so im not below minimum. What do you think?

What cartridge are you looking for load data for?

Safe loads vary quite a bit given the variables encountered when using different brands of bullets even if they're close or the same in weight. The bearing surface and how the jackets,if they're not solid!) deform have a significant effect on how much force is needed to push them to the speeds you want to use them at.

Factors such as your chamber profile, condition of your brass, bullet seating depth, case neck tension and the primers you choose to use are also important.
