sierra 80 grain sbt blitz and H4350 in the 243 win?

Hi,

Has anyone had luck working up a load for the sierra 80 grain blitz bullet using H4350 for the 243 winchester?

What have been your results? I know mine will most likely not be the same, but I am looking for some insight.

I am looking into this combination as a possiblity to coyote hunting.

Thanks

For whatever it's worth the rifle I am working on an load for is a Rem 700 stainless sps that I have put in a stocky's hart accublock laminated wood stock. It has a 24 inch sporter weight barrel.

Yep. I've tried that combination in a 26" barrel with a 1-10 twist.

Used Winchester cases and Remington 9 1/2 primers. It shot really good groups. That is an accruate bullet in any rifle I've tried it in. Never tried it on coyotes though.

For coyotes I've used 70gr NBT, 75gr Vmax, and 85gr HPBT out of the 243. They all work and each has their merits. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. :)WD

Great choice of bullet. I have shot them in my 243 win; 6mmai; and 240wby. They are an underrated bullet, really accurate & very explosive. In my 243win, they(and most other bullets) have shot best with IMR 4350 and federal match primers. May not be the best bullet if you want to save the pelts, they have been really destructive on the foxes and large groundhogs that I have taken with them.
Good luck with the coyotes,
Gary

Thanks for the feedback.

I hope I am on the right track with this powder and bullet combo. I will be using rem brass and federal match primers.

If these make too big of a mess of the coyotes or they won't shoot I will try something else.

Great long range varmint bullet! My Remington 700 shoots under 1/2 moa with this bullet. However I used IMR 4350 and Federal 210 match primers.

Shot a few groundhogs with it and it blew them up. If pelt damage becomes an issue, try the Nosler 90 BT. This is a big game bullet, very accurate in my rifle, and should cause minimal pelt damage due to it's heavier construction for deer size game.
