Sierra 70 gr matchkings #1505. Specifically, how are these for coyotes. Also compared to 70 gr ballistic tips.

I was wondering how people have fared loading these for coyotes. I've read a few answers here and there but would like to hear from more people. This would be a load for a 243 and strictly for hunting.

Also how would these compare to the 70 gr ballistic tip? I know the but is a varmint bullet but just asking.

Thank you.

Yes Ill ask there as well.im loading for my father in law. Have many 22 centerline and familiar on how many bullets work but unsure on 6mm. Yes I agree proper placement is always best.

Thank you for the replies.

I found a good buy for the 70 SMK’s a while back, finished them off today at 100 yds from my Dasher. They were and are very accurate, my groups were all under 1/2 MOA, some even getting close to 1/4 MOA. They may not be a true varmint bullet, but I can’t believe a critter on the receiving end would still be having a good day.

Why would you use a Match bullet when there are good varmint (Blitzing, BT Varmintt) bullets available?
The only reason would be potential use on a cougar while calling yotes. More penetration. Maybe the 6mm bullets are much tougher than 22 for a potential cougar. In that sense a good varmint bullet may be fine.

Good to hear with the 70s. I've come across some 85 bthp which I think may be a better bullet for the purpose.
Thanks for the replies.

If I happened upon a cougar I think I would want something other than a MatchKing.
A few years ago i had a 50gr vmax. Missed a quick 200 yrd shot but, I'll have an ar with some 69s next time. I think it'd penetrate better than the vmax. 70gr b tip or 85 bthp would be better with my father in law

I can not speak to the Sierra side of your question as they are invisible on the dealers shelves around me, as to the Nosler side of it I can only speak to you concerning 70 gr 6mm Varegeddon bullets. Down here where coyotes are fair sized and bobcats are equal in weight, 70 gr Varmegeddon bullets are killers. They dont mess up hides on either one. Everything I have shot in that weight range was dead in their tracks. One little entrance hole and they just pile up.
