Sierra 6.5 130 gr. TMK

drags

In the daily bulletin it states that the 6.5 130 gr. TMK requires a twist of 1 in 8 but on the Sierra website is states that the bullet requires a twist of 1 in 9 or faster. Who is right.
Joe

Usually Sierra stays on the safe side of recommended twist. They recommend a 9 twist for the 240 and we have shot them at 1000 yard BR and a 10 worked fine with a 300 Weatherby case. I would imagine a 9 would work. Matt

I emailed Sierra asking for dimensions of the bullet, length of boat tail, length of bearing surface, and nose length so that I could determine if I could load the bullet in my chamber with the boat tail above the neck shoulder. They replied that the information was proprietary. It's not like a competing bullet manufacturer can't buy a box and measure them. Berger puts that information on their website, and in fact published a sketch of their 130AR Hybrid when it was released showing the dimensions.

Just go to the JBM calculator when you have a question about twist.. I'm sure 1-9twist will be fine but not perfect.. You may experience instability further out and you will experience loss of BC...

You would need to know the length to determine the twist. That is why I asked.
