Sierra 150 grain 6.5 Matchking

Is that a WSSM case? I have a few 6.5 WSSMs now, or 6.5 Gertrude’s as I call them. They make a good low recoil practice round for my magnum actions, with decent ballistics as well. I will be trying the 150s in my 8” twist this summer. (I suspect the bullet will not be stable enough to shoot in 8” twist in winter)

You have a good eye. Yes it is....I have been testing an AI version for a friend/GS/competitor. I am having too much hard bolt lift at moment to say anything definitive, but have tried H4350, IMR4350, H1000 and H4381sc in various combos with 140hybrid, 155 Caterucio, and the 150 SMK. All show promise in the 1:8, 29in 6.5WSSMAi at 40oF temps both fireforming and in 1x brass, but haven't found the Dasher-level accuracy everyone was hoping for. I tried my most promising load that had tolerable bolt lift last week at a 300m practice match. Here is my last 10 shots (of 24 total) with the 150SMK going 2705 with excellent ES/SD. I was hoping for better, and the winds were not light, but perhaps when I put the tuner on I can tighten that up. There is another node at 2760ish (and perhaps higher), but until I conquer the BL issue, not going to tempt fate. Drew

I recently switched to the 147s in my 260AI. My load is 42.5gr of R-16 in Lapua brass with CCI primers. I am getting 2880fps and exceptional accuracy. Plenty of room for more but it will pretty much one hole them with this load.

Nice! Have you tried Re26? I'll bet it will even produce more velocity, based on my limited experience.

My best accuracy with preliminary loads was 1/2 moa using 41.5 H4350 at 2863 in my 30" 1-8 Krieger. My 142 smk load is 2930. Use lapua brass and f210m.
Will run further testing to try and get better accuracy out of the 150.
My Berger ballistic program show less wind deflection until the 150 drops below about 2650. I would think 2-3 inches wind advantage might be worth it if it has equal accuracy, sd, etc.
My accuracy load with the 260 Remington with an 8 twist, 26 inch barrel with the 142 SMK is 42.2X H4350 at 2800+ fps and mean radius averaging ~0.4 inches at 100 yards for six 10 shot strings (extreme spread ~1 inch). The best accuracy/velocity I could get with the 150 SMK with H4350 was 2700 fps and extreme spread 0.6 inches for a ten shot group using 41.0X H4350. When I tried to go higher in velocity the groups opened up significantly so I gave up on the SMK 150 at that point, not enough velocity to out do the 142 SMK. I will wait and see what Sierra lists as their accuracy load before I give them another try. It may take another powder and I may be on the edge with stability factor with the 8 twist barrel.

Wish I could find some R26 but none locally. Have found some R16 to try next week.
Wish I could get R17 to shoot accurately but no luck so far. Have a 5# jug left over from .300WSM loads.
My best 142smk loads at 2930 give 5/8" at 200yds when it is bright and I can see the target well.

I have not tried the 17 in my Cm, yet, but it rocks in my .260, for both accuracy and speed. But, then again, I am not a hair splitter like some. I am a hunter, not a hole puncher, for the most part.

What velocity is giving you the best accuracy with R17 in your .260?
I don't do a lot of experimenting, as I just need good hunting loads. That being said, I am getting 3010 fps with the 129 Interlock from my 24-inch Criterion barrel, with 1/2 moa accuracy. It's Hooper, by the way.

What barrel length are you running Stomp?

Tried the 150 SMK in my 6.5 Creedmoor. 30" krieger with a 7.5 twist. 41.8 grains of H4350 seated at 2.900". (Jam is 2.925") hornady brass, br2 primers

Avg velocity from 25 shots: 2788 fps
Sd: 9.7
Shooting off the sling shot 23 in 10 or X ring, and had two 9's leak out. 600 yard target.

Labradar is looking like the G7 is around .345! I think I like this bullet, not ready to blame those nines on anything but me at this point.
