Sierra 107's Question

Anyone experimented with Sierra 107's in a 6.5-284 ? Wondering about oal and accuracy with the bullet that far from the lands .

What is your objective? With the usual chamber they will be short. I would go with 123-130s and load to a lower velocity if reduced recoil is your objective. These loads can be very accurate and you can get normal jump to rifling.

I have loaded Sierra 107 MK's in a 6.5-06 using H4350. I was able to seat them just short of the rifling and got real good results at a nearby range that went out to 550 yards. The 107 is a long bullet for its weight at 1.26 inches, about 20% of the bullet behind the metplat is void, they sort of look like 140's. They did real good in a 1-8 but not that good in a 1-10. I could get almost 3200 fps and they shot real flat. Performance on rodents like rockchucks was erratic. I would use them except they are real pricy @ about $35 per 100. I liked the flat trajectory and they appear to have real good ballistic properties like low drag.

I would be happy if Hornady made a similar VMax bullet.

My reason for the question is I traded for a 6.5 x 284 built on a win 70 s/a . Thinking I might be able to use the magazine with a short c.o.a.l. . But I think I will restock with a single shot follower . The gun is very accurate with 140's and h4350 . I appreciate your response .
