Side effect from HBN coated bullets

I used HBN costed bullets in my 6XC barrel with 6XC Norma Brass. They were the 115 DTAC with factory HBN coating.

I notice that the cases that have been fired with the HBN coated bullets seem to have a residue on the inside of the case necks and there is obvious discoloration. It is a white-ish / light blue color. The neck tension with these cases is now a bit “grabby”, by that I mean that it feels like there is a gummy substance on the inside of the case neck rather than having a nice smooth seat with a new bullet. I am using naked bullets now and it is still feeling “grabby.”

I have not washed or tumbled the brass yet to see if it can be removed because frankly I am too lazy to add an unnecessary step in my reloading process. Looks like I am going to have to dust of my tumbler and try to remove this residue left over from the HBN.

Has anyone else noticed a similar coating on the inside of case necks from the use of HBN Bullets?

Thanks,
-T

I use HBN and have not noticed that at all. I use a nylon brush on my necks 3 times in & out every time and my seating is very smooth and consistent. And barrel cleaning is a BREEEEEEEEZE...;)

Rick
